hah, true enough :P my RL mate was always pissed at me when we were playing BF2142, I'd be slaying bodies and he'd be spawning on me and instantly being cut down by gunfire :P

I would, and do. Don't let someone bring down the squad, it isn't fair.

You may think you're just defending your notion of in-game efficiency and sticking to it as you think it is enough, but it's impossible not to correlate that posture with the amusing paradox in how you play it. After all, you do depend of others.

Kind of reminds me of people that get to the top of the pyramid without going through the downward structure.

If I'm CO, will you give up of your SL position if I think your squad leadership is bringing the team down?

If the answer is yes, kudos for you. If the answer is no, then you do not follow your principle, making you a stubborn SL that is potentially bad at what he does.

I'm defending the entirety of fun among others - which for most comes through achievement and a smooth consistency of gameplay.

-SM doesn't perform well, people grow weary and in some cases give said player a piece of their mind;
-Left with no choice but to find a better player. Nobody is here to teach unless they intend to. I'm certainly not, and most people I play with aren't either.

I can't see how my creed is paradoxical. I don't deny I rely on others, but on those who are skilled. 'Player is not skilled, ergo find someone superior' < what is wrong with this?

It's rather counterproductive if every good SL kicks non-skilled players out of their squad, how will they ever learn if they only get to play amongst other 'noobs' ? The SM being a total jackass, uncooperative or plain stupid is a different thing of course, but I wouldn't kick someone from my squad just because they didn't know how to e.g. use the medic kit properly.

Don't get me wrong, I love playing with skilled players. I've been recently playing with these guys and gotta say they play very well together, it's a pleasure. But when you don't play with just a closed group of friends you gotta let the less experienced part of the community in on the action too. :wink:

There is a possibility for teamwork in any multiplayer game of course, but that requires you to find like-minded players to play with. That's where PR shines, you can play with complete strangers and still achieve great teamwork and gameplay. ..Or at least that's how it's supposed to be, unfortunately you always see the random squads that have no real element of leadership and everyone just fighting their own wars spread across the map, even on the most revered servers. Yeah sure, some people like to go lonewolfing once in a while and it might even benefit the team if they know what they're doing, but most of the time it's just because there aren't enough real SLs to go around.

Show the newbies teh ropes and hope you inspire them enough to some day lead their own squads :mrgreen:

Again, the question doesn't allude to the 'bad' squad member's communication level.

I'm sure in the given scenario that if he was an entheusiastic player that explained he was new and that he wanted to learn by taking the rifleman kit and observing/copying others then i'm sure Dtacs would accept him in the squad (as would any of us).

If he turned out to be worse than useless i'm sure there would be a friendly recommendation to go on co-op/local and practise, and then come back. And he would then leave and do so.

(The above is presuming the other SM's are tolerant and not asshats, but any reasonable player would let him stay imho).

If however he can't communicate his position/experience level/willingness, then by all means we'd kick him. It's part of the 'Squad Admin' **** that we all have to go through when we squad lead.
