I was in one of the btr-80s and even with infantry support we had a hard time spotting targets, only at the very end, like a minute before the game ended, I managed to get in a good position where we could relatively safely engage an enemy fob. Also the problem was that when we first pushed towards west and got into position, after some of us got taken out we couldnt spawn at main as it was blocked (spawn icon red) for some reason and it took the team half an hour to spare some guys to make a fob next to the base. When we finaly got access to our beloved btrs the canadian team advanced and got dug in and it was really hard to get back to our team because of all the hats and tows. Our armor was basicaly useless as it was split up into two squads.

My experience was basicaly like this:

SL: Guys get to XX so we can ambush them!
Squad: OK! *drives to xx and waits for enemies to show up*
Someone: Enemy forces spotted on the hill!
Someone else: Engaging. Can you see if Im hitting any of them I cant realy see.
*woooosh!!! BLAM POOF POW!*
Btr1: We just got killed by a hat or tow.
Btr2: Falling back! *wooosh BUM!* Apache got us, can you get the Havoc on mumble?
SL: Yeah, gimme one sec...... Havoc on the way.
Teamchat: Havoc crashed... drunk pilot xD
*cant spawn, waiting, looking at porn, asking on teamspeak if its spawnable, no, ok, waiting*
SL: Its spawnable!
Me: YEEEY! *Spawn, get into btr, drive towards a1, get hated -.-, respawn, flank hat, run into tank -.-, respawn, game ends *

It was fun, dont get me wrong, I enjoyed it immensely, the problem was that btrs were left to roam free and were not realy incorporated into the plan and by ourselves we were no match for the canadian tech. It was a real challenge trying to survive let alone destroy enemies.
:D

But at the same time, oddly enough, I was on top of a hill with 20 or so Canadians for about 10 minutes despite being on the Russian team.

It was a real turkey shoot for the Canadian armor :D Me and Huba took out 3-4 BTRs, 2 BRDMs, a T90, 2 FOBs and a load of infantry with the Leo 2 alone, + add the kills of the 4 LAVs and the INF squads' HATs.

Russian armor got annihilated.

As Shaved pointed out, not a balance issue but rather a skill/organization problem.

Yes, but thermals would be nice tho. We had to stop, get out and use the binos to spot and double check before we advanced.

We didn't use thermals because of reasons earlier mentioned.

the lavs still has a much higher zoom than the btr
but the amount of bullets you can spew in a second kinda makes up for that

Russia's stationary-AA range was 1300.

it wasn't. maybe you got locked on that distance by sound, but there was no visual lock on the aas itself...

I was looking at someones video where he was sitting in a stationary AA. I clearly saw that the distance between us and him was around 1250 when he locked us.

I'll put it in here when I come home from school. Can't find it right now.

EDIT: Found the video, it's here. Head to 1:39:00, and pause the video as soon as you see the heat-signature in the sky. You can clearly see that it's 12[something][something].

After seeing the picture, and based on the number of pixels, aswell as seeing alot of photoshops in my time, this picture has clearly been photoshopped...
