And I would have trouble installing the EDITOR and BF2..
My BF2 CD is full of scratches. It won't load.
Hi Rhino - Sorry I spammed the chat back then..
I've been watching Video's of EJOD Desert lately.
And I must say -
Old graphics!!
- But with the right tools..
I could do Another..
But It takes time to re-understand the Editor.
Anyway.. Hi guys..

ahhh! it lives! Kill it!!!
welcome back
If you still have your CD key you can put it into Origin or Steam (although hear Steam doesn't like it very much) then download and install it off of that, and if your up for making EJOD again or w/e I'm sure the editor will come back to you very fast

I got Origin...
BF2 is in my basement.
Anyway - I will need a few days to think about it.
I know how much work it takes...
I think EJOD Desert took about 5 month or something..
Hmm a re-make of my favorite map you say, hmm sounds good to me.

Why not make a completely new map?
I'm sorry, I'm pretty new here but I don't see any gain in remaking it, unless you are planning a complete revamp with the same concept.
Its up to the mapper though ;P

I wonder if there have been made new walls to work with..? And stuff..
And how much it cost on Origin if it's possible to buy it.
I have to look through some boxes in basement..
Thinking about it..
I must be interested else I would not come here..

is it possible to build around it?
That is, can one essentially copy and paste the map onto a 4x4km and then fill out what the mapper thinks would happen next?

Completely new.
Back when It was created - Computers was not that fast.
And It was much smaller to begin with - The hills was out of bounce area.
That is why the desert area on both sides of the urban area was not really worked on.
It was not meant for play-area.

Ye, for Muttrah I copied the entire static setup from v1 to v2 and used little bits of v1 on v2 like one of the warehouse setups in the docks and the part in the south of the city.
If you also wanted to copy terrain that is possible too, although takes a bit of PS work and for the mapper to know excatly what he's doing but one thing to keep in mind is that a 4km map has 1/2 as detailed terrain, ie, 4x4m grid squares instead of 2x2m grid squares, so a lot of the detail built into the old terrain would be lost.

I would love to see the return of EJOD. It has always been one of my favourites.
Throw in some village outskirts, and perhaps look at Operation Marlin for some ideas on city building. Would be nice to see a well thought-out financial centre in the city, something that very few PR maps attempt. Before the map was mostly featureless desert, but new statics gives you the opportunity to create a convincing highway network.
I would consider a new BLUFOR faction though to take on the MEC. Perhaps the French? Ze Germans? It would be nice to give those factions the opportunity.
I think it would also be nice change for the OPFOR (MEC, im assuming) to go on the offensive to reclaim EJOD from invaders. Buildings fortified with sandbags at windows and balconies etc.
...mongol...

I loved EJOD, when I was first making Burning Sands I actually added Ejod's staticobjects to it to see if I could just add it in its entirity to one side of the city, but the style clashed, so I didn't do that in the end.
Please though, Thomazz have another go!

it does need a little bit of work though
Germans Vs Mec would be interesting, though really the USA fit nicely imo

How about like.. Okay..
Droids.?
I know I am not meant to discuss such matters but what if..
Containers where a player could get into with only Two pr. team. I am so annoying right now - sorry guys..
It's because I have concluded I cannot create a new map.
But If Remote controlled Androids was added... I dunno.
Cool designs.
If anyone had the capacity to create a Container - With Android.
Like a Lego set. For remote controlling. BattleDroids!!
Cheers!
laters!

I think of Burning Sands as the new Ejod. I'm not saying it feels the same, but it seemed sort of designed to replace it.
