A few days ago, it worked fine (PRMumble), but since yesterday, I don't get switched into the right Channels anymore.
It's strange because Mumble says that it is linked to BF2, and I even get the overlay in the game, but I don't get switched in the right channels.

I also can't manually switch myself since I don't have the rights.

I am not using a Steam version of the game.
Can anyone help me please?

Greetings, Ray.
I'm having the exact same problem. I really am no expert, and haven't tried much other than reinstalling PRMumble, so I don't know what else to do.

'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1749137']Floatplane, if you see the red symbol, you are talking forced-center channel, i.e. in squad channel.
if you see the green symbol, you are talking in local , i.e. in relatino to your locaiton in the BF2 map.

Go to the first post in this thread and scroll down to the G. Overlay section. If you activate the overlay you can see yourself talking in channel , if you select that option in the overlay screen.

Download this overlay settings file, and install it as per directions above.

You are 99% there. Don't give up on the last step.
Try as I may, I cannot get there.
I'm not a "techie" person and probaly the only way to 'mumbalise' my self would be via an audio link to a Guru "who knows" (Grasshopper).
I don't know if that's possible on this forum.
It's painfully obvious some small discrepancy in my setting up is letting me down and I feel i'ts somewhere in the middle betwen Mumble and connecting to PR.
I'm there in the Mumble/PR server, but for some reason I'm not 'automatically' connecting to PR and squads when selected.
Any thoughts ???

@floatplane

Does that happen on every server? Sometimes it takes time for Mumble server to switch you to proper channel especially in peak hours or during weekends when there's a lot of people on it.

Make sure you run it as admin if on Win7. Do you see a message BF2 linked on bottom left side of your PR Mumble client? If you have overlay do you see people from your squad on it or you see a very long list?

Jump in some server which has mumble support, and then look at mumble client whats happening. If you're for some reason in wrong server channel double click on root and wait for server to switch you, try leaving and joining squad again.

Well, I've tried several servers - whether I try for 1 or 5 minues the end result is the same, no game connection.
I'm on Windows 7 64 bit, I run PR & Mumble as Admin and no I don't see any indication of a connection between Mumble & PR, I don't see anyone in the squad, because I have left Mumble open and entered PR to 'join' a squad.
Until I start PR, find a squad with vacancies and enter it, I don't know what squad I'll be in.
The "overlay" thing has me confused and although as suggested I downloaded Litoralis_Overlay_January_2012, "loading" it into overlay configuration is another storey !!!
I really don't understand the Mumble linking to PR, how the overlay is installed and operated, what a root server is - in general as mentioned although I built this desktop PC from the ground up, I am no Tech head, do not understand much of the terminology used and in short, pretty bloody useless !!!!
Actually when I was running Mumble 1.2.3, I actually had all the above working, could see my avitar on top right hand of the screen when in PR, it lit up when I hit my communication buttons, but no-one in the squad could hear me ....just like now, except I have nothing when in PR to show Mumble is working.
Guess I'll just have to play and enjoy the experience of PR by using limited communications with my "Q" key and if I get kicked from a game for no Mumble, so be it.

Well, turns out it was quite simple. I just ran it in compatibility mode with Vista SP 2 and voila...

OK, another attempt !!!
I un-installed Mumble version PR Mumble 1.0.0 - re downlaoded it and installed.
I then ran as admin which opened it up.
Mumble then put me in amongst the servers on the right hand side of the mumble screen.
As I live in Australia I entered Gaming AU-BigD #1 (1), which put me in their server.
All and I mean "all" settings in Mumble have been left on default.
I have gone into 'configure' and 'audio wizard', are set to a) Logitech device microphone which is a web cam and b) - Output device are 'speakers' High definition audio device.
I then set the 'volume' tuning as per instructions.
On 'push to talk' settings I ticked 'local speech' communication key (keyboard H) and left the remainder as default. That virtually closed the audio wizard.
Going back to mumble in the server, next to my game name I have a black microphone symbol, when I press my 'H' talk key it turns green, but "all" the other number keys have no affect, they keep the speaker in 'black' mode. (I am guessing this is normal until such time PR is opened and a game/team is entered) !!!
Also to the right of my game name in the server, there is a 'R' in a small square box?
In my desktop 'audio devices' I have checked and under the 'playback devices recording' it shows the Logitech mic as ticked and operational.
Under 'playback' it shows the 'high definition' speakers as the default device and is ticked.
Under 'communications' when Windows detects communications activity, I have 'do nothing' ticked.
So unless there is something in Mumble 'set up' I should have different from "default" all should work.
The only other item of concern is when in Mumble and connected to the server "of your choice", in the left hand column you are advised that when starting BF2, you will see a "Battlefield 2 is linked" sign displayed.
Not too sure how you see this - what I mean is I have Mumble open and running, then I select PR as Admin and when PR starts it takes up the whole screen and covers over Mumble, so I can't see the "BF2 is linked" come up. How do I know they are in fact linked as they should be????
I left this thread (and Mumble) open, minimsed the screen and entered PR for a test run.
Ran as Admin, entered co-op and a server, joined a team and guess what ..... no Mumble operation.
I really don't know what else I can do, as mentioned I'm no "techie", but I don't know where I'm going wrong or not doing correctly - no one else seems to be having these problems.
Any advice, help, abuse, would be gratefully accepted...
Thanks once again.

R sign means youre registered on MUmble server, thats not a problem.

Only way to see Battlefield2 linked message in mumble is to ALT+TAB and look in PR mumble console ( bottom left side )

If you enter cooperative server its normal not to have mumble support, cause most if not none of them have mumble supported. Join some of the servers that have Mumble in their names to be certain its on.

OK, another obsticle overcome - almost.
If the co-op servers I enter into are not using Mumble what are they using, as it seems to work well and it would probably be a big help if I used whatever system they are using as well?
Did all the above and yes, it shows me as "being linked" to BF2 in the left hand Mumble column.
It looks like all is solved (I hope), I was there all along and I guess the confusing issue was I had "no" idea that the co-op was not using Mumble, as nobody thought of mentioning it, even though when in game I constantly hit "J" and typed 'I cannot get mumble to work' and even on the threads I have read, I didn't come across anything about that fact.
Oh well, you never know some other idiot like me may also fall into the same trap I did and this thread may be of benifit to them.
If I could find information on the VOIP system the "others" are using (guessing the BF2 one), it would be great.
Thanks once again .......

BF2 uses built in VOIP which is by default on "B" key binding. IF its enabled on server and it is on most coop servers.

B - squad chat
V - only if you're SL or commander ( commander chat to all SL's or SL chat to CO )

Well, I do thank all of you for the assistance given "free without reservation".
All works well with BF2 VOIP in PR and "seems" to operate" with Mumble, as at this stage I have only given it minimal exposuer in "deployment".
But, all is good and now I'm a happy little vegemite ....cheers.

If youre losing connection or dropping suddenly, cant connect etc.. look at the link and set it up in that way.

If you mean Mumble for Coop server I dont think that's wise, Murmur server is heavy loaded anyway so why causing additional load with coop servers.

I'm not sure but think not, will update when I know exactly.

Yes you will brick it if you mess with shortcuts and no there is no fix for that yet. Not that I know of. You can connect external keyboard to notebook and use it in that way.

Mumble local sound problem

Hello everyone,

I have searched everywhere, about a problem I keep having (even after reinstalling mumble).

Before the update and install of mappack mumble worked fine.
Then I installed mumble with the update and then it did not work anymore.

I had two versions of mumble on my laptop: the 0.5 and the newest version.
I deinstalled both and installed the new version again.

The weird thing is, I can speak to everyone, and everyone can speak to me, BUT I can only hear the voices from the squad and NOT from the local (when pressing H).

Does anybody know what is going on ? I really do not see the solution. I'll keep on trying, hopefully somebody can help me with this.

Kind regards,
Alexander

Hi Alexander,
That's a new bug for me,
[R-COM]MaSSive wrote:Ok. Try this.

Uninstall mumble, and delete its configs. Easiest way is to use Win+R and type "%appdata%" and press enter.

It will open "C:\Users\*YOU*\AppData\Roaming"

Now lookup for folder named Mumble there and delete it. Reboot and do registry cleanup after that. ( CC Cleaner ie. )

Once you reboot install mumble again BUT make sure you right click on installer and check all on compatibiity tab except "Run in 256 colors" and "Run in 640x480 resolution". Use XP SP3 compatibility mode.

Run installer and when it prompts to start and run audio wizard shut it down. Find mumble icon and go to compatibility tab again. ( Remember do this on mumble shortcut now not the installer )

Check run as administrator there and Run is XP SP3 compatibility mode, nothing else!

Now you can start it and go trough audio wizard, make sure you follow instructions in this thread.

Let us know if its fixed after that.

Hi everyone.

I`m getting "Server connection failed: The remote host closed the connection." while trying to connect.

I've no firewall restrictions on my side.
Mumble - Remote Host Closed the Connection checked, w/o result.

IMHO, my ip's blacklisted at mmbl root server.

Thx in advance.
