Cool, if you could send me what you have it would be good, but from what I can see aren't these models from other mods like AIX, DC and EOD2?

Also how come in the first video the FN FAL has a scope? Was that common/used in the Falklands war at all?
PoisonBill wrote:Although it might already be decided, it seems like this could be a little bigger project with "Goose Green" and "Stanley" as skirmish maps or a kind of infantry AAS. They were apparently both important battles in the war.

A entire map (north east island), Falklands minimod could be a completely different game, boats with arty cannons, and artillery for the Argentineans are needed. Boats need to be able to be destroyed by jets and cost tickets or something.
There is really only two choices here, you try and portray ever battle individually, or you do them all in one which I'm doing here. Doing them individually while yes, is more realistic per what happened each battle, it very much limits you into what you can do, like for example air power, you can't really do the air power side of things very well, unless like AIX did, you put a carrier just NW of goose green, some 500m away from the shore in a spot the carriers never went close too, and Argentinian air power is limited to the small tiny grass air strip which could only realistically launch light aircraft, and wasn't used for providing air power in the war afaik, or at least not a significant amount.

With doing the entire war, you open up a lot of possible options to the players, recreating the battles as they go along but also representing pretty much all the aspects of the war much more realistically, even if the individual battles are not as realistic to history.

Personally I think its much better for gameplay doing it this way and also to give an insight of how the war played out much better.

One thing thou, there is really no point in doing it both ways, its either one or the other.
PoisonBill wrote:In the Discovery documentary they mentioned morale a lot, could this be implemented somehow?
Unless someone can think of a good way of portray an emotional factor in a non-gamey way, no... Morale is something that comes into all wars/battles and isn't just excursive to the Falklands, so if it was to be implemented, it would need to be implemented into the entire mod but tbh, its already someone in the mod, just the result is rage quitting when moral is low rather than surrender :p

According to this image from wiki, there's supposed to be an airfield northwest of Goose Green, however I can't find any such thing on Google earth or other images on Google earth. I hate it when things just, disappear :D
It was/is a tiny grass strip for light aircraft, nothing more :p [/QUOTE]

Operation Paraquet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Like I said before, not much. SAS mission to start off with from choppers landing on a glacier, but had to abandon due to bad weather, which resulted in the loss of two our of the three choppers (I don't think anyone was heart luckily and they all made it back in the last chopper). There is a documentary on it called something like "Helicopter warfare: Falklands" by ch5 iirc but can't find a working link, at least for my location this one might work for you: Helicopter warfare 2 of 5 - YouTube
Or it might be this one: Helicopter warfare 3 of 5 - YouTube
Or one of the other parts :p

And then there was a landing by RM and SAS troops, which the forces at the garrison surrendered after 15mins or so, then shortly afterwards the entire forces on the island surrendered.

I asked one of my family that was out there with the RAF straight after about the Hueys:

He said the RAF brought 4 or 5 back and I've seen one photo with three wrecked ones on the Islands, so IRL there were at least 8 there.

As to what they were doing no help, also no enlightenments about the Amtracks except assuming they were used as armoured logistics trucks for ferrying ammo.

Loads of Argentinian photos here.

Not many scopes though - I notice that all their Hueys and more common Pumas have yellow painted on the back.

The thing with the scope is that the vid demonstrates work done for the Argentinian army COMFAC for PR and not some random Falkland war mod as Rhino seems to have imagined :p

Yeah, I recall that. Couldn't find the thread but it was a pretty long running project that had created some neaty stuff for a modern day Argentine Army to work as a OPFOR. The original idea was to create some individual Falkland maps but they were also playing with possible maps set around South America and not just against the British. But as far as I know the project was trying to make like a modern day version of the Falklands war.

That project was mini-mod Malvinas. v1.0 was the last release with maps of malvinas but in modern combat. A lot of stuff is still WIP for ever because no tech support. Now they are more focus on PR:ARMA

Ahww too bad stuff for the BF2 version wasn't finished. :(

But I understand when people shift to the ARMA games for modding projects. Far more freedom there.

Hello, effectively mini-mod Malvinas V0.1 (based on PR0.917) stay stopped for not having technical support, we were told that we needed to present the proposal of the faction Argentina "AR" for which a team was formed I get to have 4 people at some time while on our forum was opened a subforum for modding Project Reality en Espa?ol - RealityMod Latinoam?rica and started working on the basics to see if we could submit a work plan in RM, with hard work and dedication we can make a custom faction WIP based on models of soldiers, some weapons and vehicles "U.S." which were painted and so adjusted PR was achieved also make an addon to be installed in PR0.917 without modifying the core files and managed to work very well; other static, map falklands, vehicles and weapons were taken from other mods (on loan) only for use in private as a basis for testing and comparison, we also repainted, but seeing the enormous effort and technical limitations that we had because we are amateurs and we had media lost interest so we started to see if it was easier in PR_ARMA https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f443-p ... 3-wip.html but also we have the same limitation.

Erm Rhino i know you are using the Essex with a sky jump representing the carrier at first, but erm would you like me to start work on a proper model of Hermes or Ark Royal. Havent modelled in a few years so i will need to get some up to date software any you recommend.

It would be really awesome to have an Invincible class aircraft carrier, but it is by far the toughest type of thing to make for BF2, as you first need to be a good modeller, you secondly need to understand BF2's static texture palettes system fully and thirdly, you need a hell of a lot of time on your hands to do it well.

If your really up for this, I would first suggest you make a few normal staticobjects, starting with something really simple like a basic prop or two, and moving up to something like a medium sized building and once you've fully done that and got them exported to the game, checked up and got the all clear from me, then you will be in a much better position to make a carrier, but this will take quite a bit of time to do the above, before you can start thinking about making a carrier hehe.

You might want to consider modelling something else quite a bit simpler like a handheld weapon etc, although this wouldn't teach you much about the texture palettes etc as they don't use them, would help the mod out just as much :)

If you really want to go straight into making HMS Invincible then please do and I'll support you where ever I can, providing I have the time (which I don't have that much and probably less coming up) but I think you will find your end up having to do quite a lot of rework, possibly even find yourself remaking most bits from scratch.

I have a question about the Sniper Kit for the Argentina. What specific model are they gonna use?

I heard multiple reports that they used scoped K98s and others said that they used M14s with a very limited number of AN/PVS-2 scopes.

You guys have anything else?.
