'[R-DEV wrote:Soppa;1777421']Heya,

128 server has not been running lately as there's not been anything to test

but!! This weekend I'll try to make a first test for Windows +64 players server.

So, put your beer in the freezer and prepare for war !

I usually only play in 64+ server if there are good squadleaders around. Because I myself feel a bit uncomfortable leading more than 6 people (ok, 8 people isn't that different, but if more join - the trouble starts). It shouldn't be that much of a deal, but apparently it is for me. Some kind of psychological barrier I can't overcome (or am to lazy to).

But, yeah, I agree with the argument that 64+ server sometimes can be somewhat a noob magnet. And also, rephrasing Stalin - the more people, the more trouble.

Final conclusion: I really like 64+, but not in it's current incarnation.

I never played 128 man server, but wouldn't so many players shift the focus away from single squads and their capable members to question of sheer mass and firepower, turning PR from some kind of assymetric conflict/small skirmish-game to a big scale battle simulation? Where in the end only the masses of tanks and helicopters decide? (Given that not only the player numbers but also the amount of kits and vehicles get doubled)

While infantry can deal with one or two armoured vehicles, dealing with three or four is near to impossible. I guess. But I am a noob.

Edit: with so many players there wouldn't be any squad movement possible which is not noticed by the enemy. Currently you can surround them and attack from the flank or from behind, or even not attack at all and simply accomplish the objective. But with too many players there would be no "gaps" left in the frontline, turning the game to some kind of WWI where all you can do is to push the frontline forwards. Advancing in line with twenty other players, shooting twenty enemies and hoping you hit more of them than they hit of you is not so thrilling for me.

Just one little question....Why are you guys not joining the 128Server?
This weekend i spend like 5-6hours while waiting for the map to seed. But noting!
You peoples prefer to stay on the regular 64servers.

Just explain me why????? I dont get it!

i mean there is a server where 128 could play together and you don't join it?

Is the problem the fact that YOU can't drive an Apc/Tank or fly a Jet/Attack Choppper because there are too many players and no vehicle was left for you? :? :

Just tell me the reason. I'm really wondering.....
1. Nickname bugs - its not a big problem until, but when your team(or even you) is picking enemy kits...
2. Not Enough Sq limit - 129/200 ppl on server and only 9 squads ? It should be fixed(if it is possible).
For an instance I dont want to play with random 9 guys, i have own squad (3-6ppl) with whom i play every single day. Also 15 man is to much to make a silent, perful strike or action.
There was only 1 game on 128/200 slot server and it was PRTA(or Sisu?) Vietnam Event which was REALY cool.

Seriously, I stopped reading after the "I never played on 128...".
Sorry, I was not interested in the rest... I'm not saying you're noob or anything... it's just... I really don't care what anyone who never played on 128 has to say.
It's me, not you.

Well, this topic is called "Why did nobody join the 128Player Server".

I told why. It's because I imagine it's not as good as 64 players. I will definitely give it a shot one day, but it needs to be almost full when I check the server list.

So if you really want people to play 128, you should try to convince them :p

Or.. if you really want +64 player servers for PR v1.0, you should join :D

Thanks everyone who did join today! We did hit 65 players twice which caused server crash because bug in my code. I did fix it but after that we didn't reach more than 58 players.

I just leave server on and see if it fills up at weekend.

Linux 64 Bit. Linux is pretty common in the area of servers in general. There is not even a bf2 mac os server software.
