I disagree, that is a very old video and I'm almost positive that is not just 1 JDAM, espeically considering 1 was airburst.

The video that adog
linked is not nearly as "huge" as it appears. To me it looks like a large string of smaller caches were spread out, laced up, and detonated using smaller charges such as the M112 and a lot of det cord. From the audio, that "crack" you hear instead of the "boom" is due to the use of a higher-velocity explosive and the lack of a large explosion from conventional explosives. So I'm assuming that the caches themselves were mostly small-arms. You can also see a couple of streamers, but nothing serious. But the majority of the explosion is covered up from a combination of the smoke produced from the explosives, and the even larger amount of dust/dirt kicked up. Yes, most of what you see there is actually just dirt/sand/mud/shit/etc and not some huge fireball.
As for the video Nicoliani
linked, and K4on quoted, I doubt that was a JDAM. It was more likely a very large staged (Combat Engineer setup) device(s). Plus the sound just before the actual explosion doesn't feel right for a JDAM. I've seen enough of them in-person, and the lack of "certain sounds" makes me doubt it was airborne ordnance. It's also very difficult to 100% positively confirm anything shown on video though.
@Nater - Sorry man, but you've been misinformed on that. The JDAM munitions are in fact capable of airbust, when combined with the proper tools. The
DSU-33 made by
ATK (Alliant) is the most common.

I rather...have ability to repair cache by dropping ammo bag on it or something.

It's funny because while defending PR's weapon caches you use up more ammo than they contain.

I was being sarcastic, as the first suggestions was already over-the-top for PR.

Yeah, what I was saying was I thought it was definitely at least 2 JDAM's, always good to hear from a pro though.

Ah, sorry, sarcasm doesn't go over too well on the forums lol.

to be honest i dont like the current system for destroying caches anyways. Instead of having everyone rush in and drop incendiaries on it i feel the blufor team should need to secure the cache area then bring in an engineer to blow it up. IRL we wait for EOD units to arrive, in PR it should be the engi. Incendiaries should be for deployables and stationary vehicles only.

Nice idea, I don't like IG either.
Having to wait for an engineer give another chance for the insurgents to secure the cache...

IRL you don't have an endless wave on Insurgents attacking you on the cache. In PR you have. You do not simply have the time to wait for an EOD unit (or the engi) in this case.

Way to many variable go into a size and sound of an explosion. Everything from munitions in the cache to the amount of demo used to destroy it. Some times there will be an exuberant amount of demo used to blow up a cache, and you can get one hell of a big boom if the cache had Arty shells in it.

good point, i just feel there needs to be a way for insurgent players to be able to delay the destruction of an over run cache. Both without risking destroying the cache themselves with an IED or bomb car. IRL a single well placed sniper can keep the EOD team, or any other engineers from getting to their objectives for hours. I just want a little more of this aspect in PR.
back on topic: Is there a possibility of changing the cache explosion's visual effects? Right now it looks just like a bunch of propane tanks going off rather than explosives. too much flame.

Yeah, I suggested on this topic having a large smoke effect until the end of the round...
What I like on ACE insurgency missions is sometimes being able to see that large smoke going up, I would like something like that on PR...

No offense, but please consider the impact it will play into the balance of the game. PR is a more tactical and strategic version of BF2, not a simulation. Just because a cache SHOULD have that sort of explosion, does not mean it will fit nicely in to PR. However, I do appreciate that people are inputting their ideas into the suggestion threads in general.

It's not a big super mega simulation putting a C4 in a cache then going to a secure position to detonate and see that beautiful smoke going up...

1 cache supplys 32 people, so i'm guessing the actual model represents more ammo than it contains. also i'm sure the same could be said about the explosion

Or they can give everyone (only on cache maps) instead of incendiary grenade something different? Perhaps not a C4 but something else? Its just an idea.
@EDIT
Or instead of giving it to everyone, maybe just a squad leader will have it and he will need to have one or two of his squad members on him at the time he is planting the explosive?
