In ArmA it is the general jerkiness, in BF3 you could die from falling small heights, in all those generic 3rd person action games you can't even jump at all and are bound to use a certain path, etc. I have yet to see the "100% perfect fps" but when I look around BF2 or better PR has no reason to hide behind all those AAA games coming out lately. If anything it is the other way around.
Also I always at least TRY to see it as another layer of tactical improvement. You lose all stamina while leaving the enclosed compound with a 2m wall? It should be a bit more hastle than just bunny hop over the wall and run away like a madman. Get over and get in cover, take a deep breath and then start running to your objective. All good.
Not 100% sure if you take all the points that you stated or just this single one but I can not concur with that conclusion.
Sure irl you don't need to do that but you can't climb a ladder in full battle rattle, take the gun of your shoulder and shoot right away either.
When you see videos of .50s mounted on humvees, engaging targets, they are busy with all sorts of stuff before they even fire the first round. It takes much longer to climb down into the car, unstrap the ammo crates and then reload the thing as it does in PR.
An APC gunner would NEVER just leave his stryker to blow sth. up but if you would have no warm up time on those guns you would see a lot of people doing stupid stuff like that in game....believe me.
What is the most problematic situation in game that the gun needs to be cocked all the time? Probably while nading/room clearing. But then again, you shouldn't be doing it alone and the time is short enough so you can shoot really short after the explosion. What is the problem exactly?
In general I am very glad it is like that and I see it as "simulating various factors" that DICE originally never even thought of.
And btw...what do people expect from fast ropes? I really don't get that at all. It would add NOTHING to the gameplay imo. In any game this is probably the most overrated feature. Especially PR consists of so much more than not having these...idk.
Insertions on rough terrain maybe? Not having to land your chopper in the middle of a street where guys with AKs can be hiding around the corner? It adds another layer/option.

Fast ropes look cool, but add nothing. You can land a blackhawk in an alley way, you can hover over rough terrain, etc.
It will only start to get interesting when rotors have real collision. Or if that can't be done, add an invisible collision mesh to the chopper, at the same position as the rotors. I would love that tbh

.

Exactly AD. Without the col mesh on rotors it adds nothing.
With col mesh on the other hand...
GIVE US FASTROPES NAAOOOOHHH!

Make it a rectangle then you might just be able to put it down with the rotors across an allyway, hover without hovering! like a boos.

It still wouldn't be that useful tbh.

rotors really should have collision, it's pretty stupid being able to fly right through trees and stuff like we do. Ropes, and paracrates would be needed though, landing anywhere with overhead cover, trees, near walls, or buildings would kill you. Would be sketchy to even land in the streets in denser cities like ramiel

Actually, as it is, the bf2 engine is perfect.
I don't see what needs to be fixed apart from some map hills, because some hills are buggy.

'[R-DEV wrote:Rhino;1683402']which is the reason why we haven't applied the col mesh updates to the choppers we easily can do it for. The Mi-8's one is so small that its taken this long for anyone to really notice it...
Be thankful it isn't the size of the one I made for the Z-10

(which isn't in the release, was just a POC, but showed how much work it took to do)

It's a pity that it hasn't been implemented, and if I'm reading it correctly (?), probably won't be.

If choppers had rotor col meshes, choppers simply wouldn't land in tight streets, and instead land in the open ones, or on roof tops, or outside the built up areas which tbh, is what most do now anyways.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be added, I most certainly hope so and if I didn't have so many other projects I would do it myself but its a lot of work and not something I can take on right now.
What I'm on about is even with rotor cols, fast roping is still pretty much useless ingame.

In your other post you said when you were doing the PoC, it was a lot of work. Is that because editing the col mesh is a PITA or something?
