Where does the operator sit/stand when it's being manned? I can guess it's on the side with the elevation marker thing & the little seat.

Will the seat be modeled?

Ok, so it's been a while since I've been able to work on it, but I've just started on some of the details on the right side of the 88.

Hi guys.

So I'm working on some of the bigger details, including right now the seat, and as you know I am still fairly new to this :P

On the extension to the seat, I am having some issues. I am not sure what to call it (tearing? No idea :P ), but I only have 4 faces (the extension is a square/diamond, only 2 are showing atm). Any idea how to stop this issue from happening? Thanks!

Ok, so Ive got all the major stuff done now, and I am going to begin optimizing and finishing up smaller details. Here is a current count of things:

25 Objects total in the model, many of which I am going to combine to other major parts of the model.

2,157 Polys, 4,877 Tris, and 2,466 verts (before optimization)

I still have the shield to model and the mounting componants with it, which will add 1-3 objects (most likely all as one).

Ok, unless anyone has any criticism on this for things to add (other than the shield), I believe I am going to be done with this now!

Modeling wise I am finished, and I am going through today to make sure it is optimized (after reading some tuts ;) )

Final counts are 22 objects, 6,369 tris (before optimization)

After I am finished optimizing I will need help from somebody to do a few things.

1) I modeled this in max 2012 so I would need someone's help trying to convert this model into something portable to BF2.

2) Once this is done, I may need help unwrapping (unless I do it myself with some tutorials).

The rest is up to the 2d artist who wants to texture it and then the animators, and then we can have fun blasting people away! :D

Most of those cylinders seem unsmoothed to me?

Will criticize on optimalisation when youre done with it. Please do provide some close-up screens and Smooth + Wireframes screens, best to see things in them.

Might even suggest uploading it to p3d.in?

Yes, unsmoothed atm, and if I can figure out how to use p3d.in i will, I tried earlier (not very hard :P ) and had some issues with it, but yea, that would be best I think so you guys can take a much closer look.

Ok, this may be the last post for a while, I need to contact AD for some questions (Check ur pms AD! :D )

I have finished the shield and added it so we have some variety. As I said, I am going to ask AD some questions so I know where to go from here! If I can I'll figure out how to post my model in p3d.in and post it :)

And no, I have no smoothed yet, this is still WIP but I have finished the modeling portion (as far as actual modeling goes, still needs optimization)

For p3d you have to export the model to OBJ format and hope it ends with less than 50mb size. Then you make an account there andjust upload. Really the aesiest they could've done it.

Ok, finally got off my lazy a** and got both models on p3d.

No Shield:

I need to update my drivers I guess because I only see black (ati graphics card :P ), so let me know if it uploaded fine (should be multi-colored to show the different objects)

Funny enough, looking at it I find some issues I need to fix now that I hadn't noticed in max :P

No, for me it's all white, no multi-color options :S

Also I see some Z-fighting on your model, I don't know if it's normal though.

Yea, that's what I noticed when i uploaded it, however in max it doesn't show up (on the breach section of cannon and the bottom of the leg area as well).

Rhino, check you PMs, I have a few questions when u r available :)

Well, I found that if I look at x-ray instead of smooth in p3d things work for me :D

I'll have to figure out why I am getting the z-fighting though, that is a little weird, especially when I cant see it in max :P
