Qwai river:The most of time the Chinese win in the game.

Battle for Qinling: this map, i think, is very old and I dont like because there are only trees, hills.. and more trees and hills.

Yamalia: this map is very boring, this map is more for Vehicle Warfare, no for Infantry.

1.0 is featuring a new asset layout that I think will be much more equal

Qwai's actually a great map, well balanced and well thought out. It could do with tweaking here and there and a visual update but It's one of the better PR maps.

Battle for Qinling: As much as I like this map It seems to be last on the list of peoples preferred map, I can understand your point about the map being fairly dull, there are few iconic locations and between each flag there is little variation in the map, as you said "trees and hills"

Yamalia: Also an unpopular map, but still good fun nevertheless. I really wouldn't say this is a Vehicle warfare map, the dense forests make for great infantry fights and the trench network always has some intense firefights. Plus static AT cannons give infantry a fighting chance against any/all armor. Great map.

I really love Korengal. I had some great rounds on that map. It just needs some tweaks:

-getting out of Taliban main should be easier
-US should have a trans chopper and Kiowa
-Adding possible LZ's for trans
-making the map bigger: 2x2km
-Have the caches spawn in compounds not in Caves, because I highly doubt, that normal US Army/Marines would enter a Taliban cave to search for Weapons (never liked the idea of caches in caves)
-making the map easier to navigate on, more roads up hill especially in the south eastern part of the map

Would be great if someone could "repair" this map.

It is not a simple edit to make it 2km considering, AFAIK, you need to make a brand new map that is a recreation of the original

please try and articulate your points or post some videos or something as evidence. I find yamalia to be utterly exciting, and there is a new asset layout coming for 1.0 on qwai

Yamalia needs to go, it's incredibly boring - it has no points of interest whatsoever to fight over, even the mainbases are just field with a repair station and commander tent, nothing else. The whole map is literally a plain field with some forests here and there.

so?

how do you attribute lack of buildings to a bad map?

Yeah, i remember when Yamalia came up it was very popular map. It's something different than most maps.Armies fight and have fought over fields too.You have to use supressive fire and work with the APC's to be effective, and can also hide in the fields. Also i really hate it when we loose maps in PR in all those years i never played on a BAD PR map. Yes i played with a BAD TEAM lots of times. Qwai and Bashrah are very iconic PR maps that i would hate to see removed. Also Quinling is like one of the most underplayed maps.Every time i played it i had fun.It has everything a man wants - tanks, apc's ,choppers, jets, nice village and a coal mine. It's not the visuals i look at maps, but the diffrent gameplay they propose. You have to approach every map with a diferent strategy.

Quinling is alot better than Kashan desert in my opinion with a similar layout with assets and being a 4KM map, much better varation cover etc but everyone seems to love Kashan with a passion and hate Quinling while at least the infantry play is alot better in Quinling while infantry play is mainly limited to the bunker compound in Kashan.

I would play Quinling a lot more often than I would Kashan but for some reason people think Kashan is the shit and its played all the time on server listings when i think gameplay wise its probably the most inferior 4KM map in the mod considering both inf and armor.

I think what Kashan Desert lacks is height differences in the desert and villages with undestroyable buildings. If they made south village and north village bigger it can offer more infantry fighting than now. My reason for playing Kashan is that the battle is focused around the bunkers and that will give a lot of tense fights with jets flying above you, tanks attacking each other and infantry charging the bunkers, it is in my opinion way more fun than waiting half an hour to get a jdam on your head on a mountain in the middle of nowhere on the map Quinling.

Because it's always just fighting in bland levelled forest every time. There's nothing else to Yamalia.

^ the trench systems are pretty epic, as are the islands of wooden cover. Unfortunately one of the downfalls of AASv4 is that those places aren't always picked. Also the best trench system is actually the Canadian last flag, so you only see it if one team has been quite sucessful

Karbala. Not only the gameplay is derp it also looks very un-natural and "fake".. like some1 else wrote, as if the mapper decided one day he had enough.

^ iirc that was Pirate's first map, I think he did Iron Ridge which was his second map though; you can see the improvement in style.

hmm, not seeing a problem, still pretty balanced and fun.

Yamalia>Kahshan. Kashan is the retarded desert all over the place, bungers being the de_dust or toujane of PR, everbody knows them as the backs of their hands...

Please remember that no map makes everyone happy. Thus we try to maintain a good mix of maps so that everyone has a handful that they love (however, this will often mean there are a handful that they hate too, but that's okay). And yes, we try to keep old maps on the rotation as long as a current DEV has time to keep it up-to-date.

Perhaps overplayed, but it's not catastrophically imbalanced or terribly outdated.

It's bland, okay, but that does not constitute as a bad map, it could be replaced, or updated, but it's not really worth it. In the same way yamalia is balanced, and not outdated in design, you may dislike it, but if you can't articulate why it makes the game shit for everyone, like I tried to do in my OP, then forget about it.

If kashan demands more going on, youre welcome to try and add it yourself.
