For carrier aircraft its a massive design requirement for them to have good engine response times because its so important in order for them to get back in the air if they miss the deck, or to correct there height during the decent etc.
Indeed just for exemple

The response time of the engines is way too long (video as proof) and to give you and other fact Airbus A320 (42 tones jetliner) have a response time of 6 second. Now if people still want to call noob people who jump out to stop their jets instead of trying to pull up for an other try its fine but now they know who is stupid.

As such I've put some very heavy air defences on the air bases, even more so than at the land bases, which even include radars (which now I think about it I should have mentioned in the OP of this highlight but will another time in detail) and with any luck the commander will be manning the "ATC" at all times, which the AA defences are linked to directly.
Rhino can you please give us some more details on the ATC and the radars

Personally I don't think there should be a delay on the base AA, they'd be constantly manned IRL and a no delay system is the closest we can get to emulating a station that is constantly manned.

Delay is to ensure that people don't hop on and blast an AA gun in your face before someone has a chance to shoot back but ye, in the case of main base defence, that's not normally an issue but the ZPU-4 etc is sometimes used outside mains, but ye there is an augment to remove the delay altogether. On the airbase defences on the Falklands weapons they have no delay.

Mainbase AA sites should be manned at all times, so to speak, hence no delay. AAs on the batlefield should have some kind of delay, if not warmup, atleast the time it takes the guys to hop on and psition himself correctly.
