Re: [Map] Alert (2km) [WIP]
I could try to do a model for the CC-130... But don't count on me to transform it into a static in the game xD

Re: [Map] Alert (2km) [WIP]
Well... I've already modeled a Boeing 737-300 almost entirely. CC-130 shouldn't be MUCH more complicated... And the other problem too is that I don't know how to texture too lol ^^ I can just make a model

Re: [Map] Alert (2km) [WIP]
AFAIK the air up there is to cold and thin to warrant helicopter transport viable. IIRC the only way in or out is by Hercules C-130's. That being said as far as land assets.
APC: Make sure to only used tracked APC's. Since alert is mostly ice based you wouldn't have tires.
LSV: I do not believe that they will have many things such as G-Wagons, if they do at all. I think this can be countered by APC's... Perhaps skin the m113 for canadian use as we still use that as a support vehicle.

Re: [Map] Alert (2km) [WIP]
"From May to July, the camp typically hosts two or three CH-146 Griffons helicopters, a CC-138 Twin Otter, a CC-115 Buffalo and the CC-130 Hercules all of which deliver all personnel and supplies from down south"
They send helicopters, but only in summer. This comes from an official document. They also say that from May to June, the temperature range from -25 degrees to 0 degrees, and from July to August, temperature range from 0 degrees to 20 degrees with a full two weeks of mosquitoes during July (lol).
Link to the document : CFS Alert
EDIT : In fact, CC-130s have turboprop engines. So do the Griffons and all the helicopters in general. So if CC-130s work out there during winter, why not helicopters ?

The engine isn't the problem. It's the size of the helicopters blades, with the air not being as thick and it being to cold it has trouble gaining lift.

Hmm... Yeah you're probably right on that. And in the document I linked, I've learned that CFS Alert has it's own quarry... Might be good for a CP

Not sure if possible would need to look into it. But if you are comfortable making textures why not make a custom cloud texture that is the aura borealis and make that animate across the back sky... That might potentially work.... However are there reference pictures of alert? Because the things you have there seem a little.... Too... Permanent.... But maybe that's just me. I'm tired right now and ill take a look at this tomorrow when I've rejuvinated a bit...

Well for the location I cant keep it 100% accurate because then there would be nothing there.. so I made up the villages and oil rig

well, I like everything except the village. Having buildings made out of such tin wood looks really out of place IMO.

Re: [Map] Alert (4km) [WIP]
to be honest, look at the winter map Northern Lights. The map is well done, but it seems infantry always suffers quite hard and has a hard time to get around and stay alive. Where if you look at Operation Snowstorm, infantry has fun due to the forest where they can hide and advance. That's why I think such a large scale 4k map either has to focus really hard on assets or try to make as much cover as possible. I am thinking of ice rocks sticking threw the terrain everywhere. Maybe some small ice canyon/tunnel? Anyway, the flags themselves don't necessarily have to be filled with buildings. There is a lot you can do with terrain and a few objects. Some research facility's or excavation cite.

Sorry didnt mean filled with flags, I meant having something at the flags. Ill see what I can come up with MW, rocks I can do for sure, Ill see other terrain type things I can do.

Could always throw in a plane wreck, I'm sure they have had a few crashes.

Re: [Map] Alert (4km) [WIP]
are you planning on having any armor? If it is only inf and transports I think it would be cool to have large open areas with some ditches and rocks , somewhat like falklands but especially for infantry
also for the northen light not moving maybe you can experiment with the cloud layers? I don't know exactly how they work but it might be something you want to look into
Good job so far though, keep it up

Re: [Map] Alert (4km) [WIP]
RIght now the snow is simply a textured ground, correct, as in, in prone you are completely exposed? The arctic has snow, and if you were to lie down, you would be partially concealed by snow, like if you lie down in grass correct? Is there any way to make it like this?
Also this map really gives a mounted infantry impression. Lots of LAVs, and BTRs. Maybe BMPs and Leopards.

problem is when you give any vehicle anything better than a 50.cal or 14,5mm cannon, they will just rape.
