Btw mangeface what did/do you do in your unit? And how many CV-22s did your unit had/has?

PR used to have a osprey from BFS, maybe its back in or they cleaned it up finally.

Navo got it right. I was a airframes and hydraulics mechanic. And go haze yourself now Navo.

As for how many CV-22s we had, the answer is ZERO. The CV-22 is the spec ops version (has more sensors, radars and more 'low observable' paint) that is operated by the USAF. The United States Marine Corps operates the MV-22A/B/C models.

Each unit varies on the amount it has depending on what it's mission is.

Deployable fleet units heading to dirt deployments take 12, and usually maintain 12-14 in the states and transfer extra aircraft to other units. Units heading out on MEUs take 10, and usually have 10-12 in the states before heading out. They only have MV-22B/C models.

The training unit has appx. 20-26 MV-22As (although the amount that can fly at any given moment is 6-10 as most maintainers get drawn into a 'black hole' when they get there, and realize it's hopeless to try and fix them all and get them 'up', or in a flyable status).

The experimental and testing unit, VMX-22, has 10-14 MV-22s of all models, and some CH-53Es (the CH-53 testing unit was integrated with the MV-22s a couple of years ago, and since the MV-22 will be in larger numbers and usage, they were selected to be the parent name holder). They will also be receiving the CH-53Ks when they are ready for testing.
