Its a 2km map. And the combat only happens on a strip not wider than 500m. Making it easier for Squadleaders to defend. Its also easier to see simple flanks.

The grunt gets alot of action. And the support units and logistics have an easier time, since its harder for the enemy to break through/outflank the front.

So all in all, the narrow piece of land is what makes muttrah so favourable.

It is alot more fun to have quick precise and good firefights both at a distance and at a close quarter.

The T buildings are alot of fun, and are at the center of almost every flag. And the APCs are an intense break from the constant infantry fighting, raising your pulse and making your voice a tad bit higher.

The immense explosions from the JDAM and Cobra will always be seen or heard by everyone, so more fireworks for all.

In the end, its got a high entertainment quality. And we are playing a game. Which is why it is so popular.

This was done some patches ago, but they put the Cobra back in. I don't know why they did that though.

Diving from 900 m with cobra to get the beast on the choke point.

This map is the dream for Cas pilot because everybody know the name of the buildings and streets, Triangle , Crooked Ts , Choke point , Double Ts ..... In less then 5 second you can dive on your target without laze.

I don't remember it...

Cobra also isn't getting replaced any time soon, especially not by two CAS Hueys in their current state (flying tanks).

Oh I had a great round today , it started boring but it ended great. My squad got surrounded in North City , since my team just capped West City the enemy was being useless in North City and wanted to kill us in the hope that they could stop the advance. Luckily my squadmembers and the CAS squad saved my ***. It was so hectic , at least if you run soundmod. So sometimes I still love it.....

Muttrah is one of those maps that is neutral. I never get upset or excited when it is the next in rotation. I have no idea why.

Ive been meaning to discuss this. I think it's the linearity, like strike at karkand.

Flags are in a relatively straight line on a narrow corridor. Very simple push the enemy back tactics. It's a map that doesnt require you to think as much, so it's easy to play frequently.

I have no idea why anyone would want to play the MEC on muttrah though, logis always deplete so fast, the USMC get "The chokepoint", and MEC armour outside "the beast" is useless, and that thing cant do much by itself sadly. The map by the number is pretty balanced I guess, the city is narrow so simply overwhelming the enemy and forcing them off so many flags is very challenging for the USMC even with some terrain advantages, it's just that it's far more frustrating playing MEC than USMC. I've found success playing a "logi squad" and building fobs all game but thats so boring, the MEC could really use an Mi-8

Muttrah 1 was fun in the old times, for some reason i dont know, but it was fun to attack a coastal city. It was famous back then. More hype on the v2 and voila.
No, its not great for snipers, no its not great for CAS and its definitely not great for armour and the cleanliness and spacing its pretty **** for infantry aswell. Its repetitive, always the same, its small. Its overplayed. It was also one of those "new" urban maps wich got me into buying a new computer because it was so advanced.

Kashan; first 4k map, hyped as fuck, **** for infantry, always the same, repetitive, armor doesnt know what to do... hype again.

Its about hyping, and once its hyped, commoners jump on it like starving wolves on a sheep. All the new bands are hyped, all the mediocre films go big because of hype all the game ala BF3 and COD go big because of hype.

We, people of the forums commited to PR a bit more than those who go for muttrah. Most of us also have brains capable of doing something advanced not just repeating one thing over and over again. Its closely tied to intelligence of an individual. Are you going to be a sheep and never do anything remarkable, whine how other maps are ****, disconnect/find other servers that play Muttrah and continue your boring life there OR accept the challenge of other maps, discovering new stuff, getting progressively better at all aspects, get some respect amongst the community etc.

I dont like Qwai and Ramiel at all. They look unfinished, forced, old, pick one or all. Guess what? I play them through. Okay, to be honest, if its late in the night and if the map will decide if i stay or hit the hay, those will definitely make me go to sleep. They however make no difference in the primetime of my play.

what a pretentious bunch of shit, regarding your peers as fucking morons is not healthy, productive or conducive to anyone liking you

Unless people are utterly retarded and cannot notice if map is terribad, hype does not help server run 24/7 on one map.

Also, if you are so sick of maps that make you go to sleep instead of keep playing, why not make some suggestions on how they SHOULD be?

I think Muttrah has become so popular because it is a good map, and very "user friendly". That has led to good experiences for alot of people, and once you get those good experiences, it is easy get hooked.

Some maps may be unpopular because an early build of the map was unbalanced, or played awfully, and those memories tend to stick with the community even if a revised and improved version of that map has been released.

i have a feeling that burning sands is becoming increasingly popular for the same things muttrah is. burning sands was called "the new kashan" when we first set eyes on it. Now, it's more like the new muttrah. tanks, CAS, trans, apcs, and a city. do I need to say more?

No. Mi-8 too fat for muttrah streets, but huey's is not.
Give to the USMC something fat too(chinook would be nice :) ), and it will be balanced.

No since it can drop 2 crates and the Mi-8 can't resulting in lots of USMC Fortress FOBs and no MEC fobs since the MEC helicopter will be shot out of the air instantly.

To be fair flying Hueys is apparently so fun on Muttrah that it's rare as USMC to not be able to get two crates as it is.

Logistics is a pain in the arse in every PR map if you have no helo's. Muttrah is ok some regards because the Logi's are quite fast and armoured so you can just drive through the city and hope CAS doesn't spot you. This lets you build ninja fobs behind enemy lines.

Never enough logi trucks though [in PR] :(
