MEC used to have the hk21

I say an RPK, RPK-74, best balance between all the armies.

Yeah we're pretty sure that's what they're getting for now, but it doesn't fit in the long run.

Unless the MEC infantry armory gets overhauled.

While the RPK may seem out of place, it makes sense. The MEC are heavily based on Iran, and the IRIA currently uses the RPK as a LMG.
