You've seen the games that didn't have stress tests have an aneurysm on day one launches, even the big boys at DICE and EA seem to have those ALL THE TIME. This is NOT the PR 1.0 release. The DEVs released this for us to HELP THEM TEST THE SERVERS. So that's what they want us to do.
Shit, they've been making this game for years and they could've just stuck up the proverbial middle finger and not included anybody. But lo and behold, they let people in and they're complaining about why they can't be given more, more and more. Our JOB here is to stress test the server. NOT to play around.
People seem to have forgotten what Alpha and Beta tests are. They're not just instances where you get to play the game early. They generally have some goal in mind and this particular goal is to test the servers and well, it looks like that was done pretty well.
Honestly, conforming to the Devs has nothing to do with being right. Deal with it.
And to be more frank, all egos aside, this is from Slick on the page describing the beta:
This Open BETA release is a crucial part of the development cycle and while we have a great team of dedicated testers that have tirelessly helped find countless bugs, we simply cannot properly test gameplay and other features that require a mass amount of players. It is important that we find and fix any problems before we release the final version and we are asking you, the community which has supported us for the past 8 years, for your help in making the PR:BF2 v1.0 the best release yet!
In essence, they now need mass players to help out. Not co-op players.

In principle "playing around" isn't bad, but that's not the reason why the DEVs have released this BETA, it's to test packed servers.spirit03 wrote:What exactly is so bad about playing around?
Uh... no?spirit03 wrote:That is exactly the way you will find errors. When you search for exact mistake in something it is less chance you will notice it then if you see it accidentaly for example when you are playing with it.
No I'm not. I'm trying to tell you that the testers have done the job you'd like to do, and that your job when playing the BETA is to just be another person stressing the server even more.spirit03 wrote:You are trying to conform DEVs and get them to like you. Please stop, you look silly.

Sorry, I really haven't taken it this seriously.saXoni wrote:Who is Computer?

Banana Split would be niceDDS wrote:It was up and down and laggy so you really didn't miss a whole lot. On the upside the 64/64 has been going a while and hopefully will help them reveal the issues and we might get to slog it out in the next 7-8 days.
In the mean time who's hungry for a banana!
Fairly sure Mineral, who was in contact with Ancient and the other DEVs, got told by Ancient that the servers was getting attacked, and that he'd go to sleep since he would be unable to make any hotfixes to fix the lag.saXoni wrote:Do you have any sources that can back up your claim?

Re-read AD's post on first page. The Mumble is causing issues, NOT DDoS attacks.Philrow wrote:Fairly sure Mineral, who was in contact with Ancient and the other DEVs, got told by Ancient that the servers was getting attacked, and that he'd go to sleep since he would be unable to make any hotfixes to fix the lag.
How would Mumble be able to cause issues, and keep the servers down, if there's no players on them? And don't you think there'd have been more attempts and patches to fix it since 1.0.18 came out (about 5 hours ago)?ComedyInK wrote:Re-read AD's post on first page.
