It's rather simple, if it lags I lower my graphics settings or lower resolution and by turning off AA, but sure I feel for you, it should be better coded (this is truly beyond my knowledge) but then BF2's engine is more than eight years old.

everyone keeps suggesting to lower the graphics settings but im convinced its to do with mumble or that latest update. It was fine a few days ago but now its unplayable.

If you can post your system information i think i know what may be causing your problem. If you have both an integrated video system and a card that is inserted into a laptop someone said there is a glitch that when mumble is active it switches PR back to running on the integrated gpu.

From what i understand he had to go into Nvidia Optimus and switch his PRmumble application manually to run using the actual gpu and not on-board.

I've been having 'fps' problems too and also thought Mumble might be the cause, but I would better describe my issue as 'rubber-banding', where the game seems to act exactly as though the server/connection is lagging badly, and have gotten the impression this seems to start after Mumble has crashed out (maybe a few times), kicking me to desktop and back.

I started PR without Mumble once and noticed the game felt really good. I will go try this some more to be sure... (admins: don't go kicking non-mumblers now...)

When mumble crashed and you get shot back to desktop the mouse is sometimes very heavy. Like your CPU is maxed out, which it isnt.

Would you be able to make sure that your computer is not switching to the integrated intel HD graphics chipset?

You could test this i believe by opening catalyst control center and finding the option to run under High Performance Mode under all circumstances.

I don't use ATI so im not 100% sure but there is an option in the control center somewhere to either force the computer to use the dedicated GPU or a way to force a specific application (the battlefield 2 project reality .exe) to use only the dedicated gpu.

I think arma sometimes has that problem where if you lower the grapics too much its starts to use your cpu rather than your graphics card. I'll try the catalyst control settings now.

turns out i fixed all of my issues simply by putting my graphics up, i was kinda pissed so i decided just to put the graphic all the way up and rage at my shitty computer. Funny thing is my fps went up to 50-80
EDIT: that was on an empty server, on a full server it goes back down again :( excitement lost.

I noticed that mumble has high priority, tried to change that through task manager but it didn't worked.
Here is my specs, just in case.

Btw mumble was down 5 minutes ago when I played, and when he got down it didn't really helped my fps on Saarema, guess you have to start it without mumble or no fps-boost. :|

All the ones that think that mumble might be causing the lag, would you be so kind and play PR without mumble for a while and see if it's better? (to play without mumble, click on the little arrow next to the PLAY button on the launcher and select 'play without mumble'). This would greatly help us find a possible FPS drop issue.

Thanks!

I played 3 times without Mumble running last night and everything ran fine.

I can't believe they've just removed that option. Isn't this supposed to be a BETA TEST where people try to identify and rectify any faults before release? Why remove the only option useful for testing this problem? Idiots...

I did try this before the patch last night and with fraps open so i could see my fps and without mumble (launching without it, not closing mumble after) and i gained roughly 10 to 20 fps, although sometimes it went up about 35. Just to reiterate, this problem started after the .20 patch and makes my fps go lower as well as have it drop sometimes down to 5 every 30 or so seconds.

I tried running it without mumble yesterday for several rounds. No change. 100 FPS when nothing happens. ~35-40 FPS when looking towards firefights and directions where alot of people are active. Even though you do not see anything, all the stuff gets rendered anyways so FPS drops even if the battle is 500m away from you, with several hills and trees inbetween.

When CAS strikes, FPS goes to 25-33, same as above...even if you do not see it, it gets rendered somewhere.

Did not experience any difference with or without mumble. Its bad as before.

Was it like this before the .20 patch?

25-33 minimum is not that bad at all, I'm often getting 20 or less(and I heard that some players are getting 11) simply when there is intense shit 500m away from me, without mumble it never dropped so low, it was never below 30. I'm 100% sure. So mumble basicly took 15 fps from me(and other people) and now I simply can't play on 100p servers if it's a small map. At least we have the 64p US server up(can you make 64p for EU players too please?), but I really hope the devs are gonna fix it if not quick, but at least till this open beta is over.
I wonder why they didn't showed up in this thread yet.

If you are getting the same fps on all high and all low settings there is a pretty good chance the lag is CPU related. The best graphics card in the world is poop without a decent CPU.

Could you open a CPU monitoring program and check to see how much CPU is being used?
If you are getting 100% CPU usage on low and high then there is your problem. Also if mumble is lowering your FPS this could also be CPU related because not having mumble running will increase available CPU power thus increasing your FPS.

There will obviously be game optimizations to come so i wouldn't worry to much about it for now.
