I had this CTD problem aswell, but I got it working now with these instructions:

1. Uninstall PR and BF2 and delete Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents
2. Install BF2 and rightclick the shortcut at desktop.
Open properties and add this after the C:\...\BF2.exe thing
+menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1080
Use your native resolution. I am using Sony Bravia 32" as my monitor and its native resolution is 1920x1080.
3. Launch BF2 and retrieve your account, exit BF2
4. Patch it to 1.41 and 1.5
5. Install and update PR
6. Play & enjoy

It will help if I have a bug "Cleaning PR:BF2 resources" ?

I did what you write, after the launcher was crashing on start, it doesn't even start the intro for me now, its just nothing, it won't start at all, !

BTW this happen to me only today . before i played pr normally
EDIT: i re-installed it and re-downloaded the patches. it worked . i don't no why it stopped in first place
