The language is another problem and its kind of strange. Most people speak english good enough to play with them, but if you are with like 4 germans in a squad and telling stories or something while walking across the map and a english speaking player joins it takes away the spontaneous talking and people tend to speak less because their english is not so good or they are just to lazy...that takes away something.

I may say the germans are most kind people in PR, every time i get in german server in german squad and im the only non german, i just explain to them i dont speak german, and the answer is - no problem, ok, if i have order i will tell you, ect, and the continue speak german, and btw this is the perfect because i can learn german language.

I have tried this as well squad leading as the driver of the APC. I think now since you need to communicate more with other squads and are "in the map" more than in .98 I think it works the best if you are not the driver and instead inf.

Direct the APC/IFV directly and you can then cover the inf yourself.

Debatable if it is "a better way". It is certainly a different one...

I often squad lead and more often than not its with pubbers and I have no problems what so ever. You will always get the odd squad joiner for a kit but they quickly become obvious. PR really suprises me when it comes to pubber teamwork especially when I turn around to see my squad following me, well spaced apart and ready to rock, without me having to say a word. What a game!

I really recommend you to join a clan if you feel your being locked out from clansquads.
Often I try to join a squad with clanmembers since I know they?re interested in solid teamwork. Not often I get kicked from it,

but I played this mod since 6 years back. And never
have I feelt being forced to join a clan to get good teamwork in a public squad.

My first and only tip is that you do like this:

Join a squad with clanpple or othe public and talk over mumble to them " Hi guys" and hopefully someone answers, and then you ask " what class do you nead teamleader", then u take the kit that is suggested and work with that.

And use that special kit as it is meant to be used.
Like if u?re a medic you keep behind the frontline and help buddies out.

For me this is the only game/mod I ever played where I allways easily find a squad where you can get good teamwork with random people all over the globe without being in a clan So you just keep playing and use my advice, also if you?re a new player.. just tell your team about it so they know and dont kick you because they think u dont care.

Since PRTA was mentioned in the thread so many times, I took your advice and join their server and I gotta say, I felt welcomed. There was even a "New to PR?" squad.

Funny how some say that what I described in the 1st post is not a real issue and, even, try to justify this type of ignorant behavior. If you take pride of being part of community that is based on teamwork, well squad locking it is one of the most selfish things you can do in this game and it has nothing to do with teamwork. I'm not suggesting you should accept everybody, but you can tell from the first 2 minutes if that person wants to play properly or not and if not you can kick him, is that simple.

To any new player who wants to play this game properly, in a functional squad with people who want to help, go to the PRTA server, even if it has less people in it, compared to other servers.
Don't listen to advice like follow another squad around, because that squad will deploy rally points that you cannot use, most of the time you will have to get to their position from distant FOB and you will die on your way there, at base they will ask you to disembark the truck so their members can get in etc. Basically with any advice, other then join the PRTA server, in 90% of the times you will have a frustrating experiences. And don't join any clans that lock their squads, don't support this kind of game breaking behavior. Also read the manual

So if you allready have the answers why even put the post up? I dont get how you can tip new players if you are one yourself and asked for the advice? Anyhow nice that you found a good server that you enjoy

Locking squads may seem to be a very selfish move to you, but it's actually not as bad as what you think. I understand your frustration as a new player - I'd be the same and would probably ***** more than you about it - but squad leaders locking their squad do it in order to avoid kit stealing (joining the squad 3 seconds to steal a special kit such as LMG, sniper, HAT or what not) and just to keep a clean squad with no random guys willing to lonewolf or mess around. Furthermore, people from the same clan usually use teamspeak and have their own plans and own buddies to play with so I'm sure they wouldn't be glad to have some pubber be somewhat left out because of that.

So they actually do it to avoid any problem, but I'm certain most of them would be okay to let you in if you asked them and told them you're just a newcomer keen learning the game

I have only started leading squads in the past year or so of playing.

There have been many times when I have finished a round and the same players will join my squad for more good times.

How ever there are similar experiences leading where I really just want to give up and I lose motivation.

The recipe for a good squad

Role call all squad members, check they have a microphone.(Sorry, you dont have a mic?.You can't alert the squad of potential danger)

Announce the kits that you wish the Squad members to take. (this allows for members to take kits that they are comfortable with)

Let your squad know that you have a plan of where you are moving from and where you are planning on moving to. (Incldude method of transport/Build fob here)

Keep communicating to your squad members/other squads and commander. (let them know your plan, so you dont both try and build fob in same place etc)

Discuss protocol for engaging the enemy. You want to be very clear on this one.

Tell your squad members that they are doing a good job alot. ( Seriously this works and it makes the atmosphere more pleasant)

If anyone is unexpirienced or is slacking dont be afraid to let them know, but you must suggest how they can improve.

Do not rage as a squad leader ever. If you squad members are following your lead and you rage they are likely to feel the same.

If anyone does not follow your orders you must first them know where they have gone wrong. If they continue to ignore kick the player and explain to squad why you chose to do so.

Finally, try and make friends with your squad members because the community is very small and if they remember your voice and good squad leading you will be in for more fun times.

thanks for the nice words about PRTA Good to hear you were able to enjoy the game even with it's steep learning curve. PRTA has a rule that locked infantry squads under 4 players aren't allowed; This helps greatly making sure everyone gets a spot in a good squad. I myself don't have the SL capabilities to lead a squad and teach a nubie at the same time. That's why I don't make these 'learn squads' myself. But I love seeing them. I think all good SL's should welcome new players. They are really fun to play with.

We at NwA are encouraging helping out the new guys aswell. I always play with open squads for everyone to join and the last couple of days more and more people (clanmembers aswell) have started doing this. It is also in our rules to not lock squads with just a few guys since it won't improve teamwork. My PRTA experiences have always been great, but I just want you to know that the other servers are trying hard aswell. And if your experiences are bad, just !r them ingame so our admin team can help you sort something out

I would have joined, infact, I already were making an application. But PRTA seems too strict, so many rules, requires use of TS etc.

So I think I'll pass on it.

Yeah we are real sim allright

We require teamspeak cause it just doesnt seem fruitfull to build a community and only see eachother on the game server. Forming bonds and such is more important. And the rules can be vetoed and voted on. As per our tradition.

Its funny, cause I consider PRTA to be one of the laid back sorta chill places. People choose their own pace so to speak.

So if I join, can I just skip the TS part? because I don't use it nor want it.

If your not using TS not in PRTA but in general thats your loss, beacuse in this game every type of communication is welcomed and it makes your game experience much better. Plus on TS you dont just talk in-game, you get to now people met them and eventually you have a friend out there.
