Lock squads is good. Definately should stay.

Dealing with such people takes time away from actually playing the game, thus it effects gameplay.

And some days I just don't feel like making new electronic friends or teaching new players, some days I just feel like playing with people I know, mainly because I don't have the time and want to enjoy what time I do have how I damn well please. This isn't a grade-school gym-class dodgeball game where you have to let anyone on your team as long as you both had an even number when you stood in line. If someone wants to play on a locked squad, don't take that away from them, even if they have elitist/cuntish reasons for it.

And if you're worried about a playerbase shrinking, it's going to happen anyway, so I suggest you steer them over to PR2 or PR: ARMA3 and encourage no locked squads over there. This isn't the platform to work on making radical changes to this late in the game.
