BFV was awesome, I remember blasting those Nam tunes in vehicles all the time. And that was awesome!

Nam was good, but it's overshadowed by BF2. If BF2 came out in 2006 like it was supposed too then Nam would've been more memorable.

In my humble opinion the BF42 Vietnam mod; "Eve of destruction" (EOD*) was far superior to the retail BFV. At one point there were even more players on EOD servers than on BFV servers....and the music was just as good. Bad moon rising map....hell yeah sliding around in the mud, saw grass and darkness lit only by a bad full moon!
*Not to be confused with the bf2EOD mod. A complete flop by all standards

BF2 EOD was ALMOST as good as BFV!

(But still better than 1942 EOD!!)

The decisions to retire older EA games are never easy.
BULLSHIT, they started off the entire thing with a bold faced lie. EA are scum, they could have come of a little less insincere had they not started with that entirely false statement.

That is a let-down.
But no matter, we'll handle it. Well, AncientMan will

I wouldn't worry too much about it, PR and FH2 will pull through. I fear for the smaller mods though, like Operation Peacekeeper etc. Then again, these are mostly played offline anyway afaik.

OPK is BSS also, so sharing with them is always a possibility.

Wait so, they actually wont be moving the servers instead?
Does this mean .exe patches are allowed since they 'retired' bf2 and I think have no point in selling a multiplayer game without multiplayer...

So what does this mean for PR and BF2 in general? Once the servers shut down, will there be some work around to connect to dedicated servers?
FEAR Combat went through a similar thing a while ago. Official support was completely dropped but the community took over and let the game live on. Will we see something similar?
