PR is mostly active in european timezone (~GMT 0) evenings. When the night comes in europe, you can often see just one full american server. If you want to see a lot of people, just join in when it's evening in europe (GMT 0, GMT +1) ~8 pm to 11+ pm.

New was only 88/100 due to a new map being loaded.
D-Did you took a photo of your screen and instagramed it with filters? Ever heard of printscreen?

That's quite an accusation.

Just a normal photo with my phone. Was trying to printscreen from keyboard but kept getting a black screen. Don't have fraps or anything similar installed atm.

Edit: Might have been a filter on, it doesn't automatically remove filters when closing the app :o

I find PR panders too much to US/EU players and has done for a long time, at least since v0.9.
If the FCV/PRATA NA server in Los Angeles does not have 60+ players in it, I dont even bother loading up PR.
Its bad enough trying to play PR on 207ms on FCV/PRATA NA and rage quitting because of piss poor hit detection than playing on 270ms =HOG= and EU 320ms+ servers.
Iv kinda given up on PR now in favor of playing other games that offer low latency local servers, smoother gameplay and local player base.

Er, the fact that servers with low ping no longer exist in your locale is nothing to do with PR, and everything to do with the mentality of the players/gamers worldwide. BigD had some great glory days but given that with 317 million people in America, and 500 million in the EU, that it's tough to fill >400 people's worth of slots *worldwide* doesn't paint a bright future for a country with only 23.6 million people. On the basis of that analysis, Australia should be fielding on average 11-12 players per day, which seems about right :)

For the last 8 years of playing PR, I've heard people say that PR is dying. Every year again.

It's less that PR is dieing and more that the PR servers are dieing (SO MANY FUCKING CRASHES)

I would've thought something that's been going on for maybe 2 years now or so would've been fixed (This is in no way an assault on devs or server providers) But the constant crashes are just ruining the game for me.

I'm guessing the release of the ww2 alpha mod will up the count :)

The more stuff being implemented, the more stuff can cause crashes. Its almost guaranteed that every crash was caused by something different than the previous one. Some versions are somehow more stable than others, but I am afraid its impossible to have much influence on that.

Not only that but most of these crashes are very, very, very hard to track down the sources are and that is even when you have good bug reports on what excatly was going on when the crash happened so you can then try and re-produce it, which for many of these bugs, requires many people willing to help out to try and re-create each one, and that's only if you have a lead which 99% of the time, we do not...

Unfortunately we are working with a seriously old engine that we have been pushing very much to the limit in terms of capability and content and while we are always aiming at optimizing and improving old stuff where we can in the hope of trying to reduce client/server loads and crashes, its a hell of a lot of work with little noticeable benefit for each individual item on its own that you optimize.

But when we do find the cause of a crash, we do stamp it out, providing we can of course since some are just problems with the engine itself that we simply can not fix just being a mod for it.

Maybe it's time (again) to consider getting a petition going for EA to release the engine code since official server support is gone and finding the game commercially to purchase is all but gone too.

What do you think?

Battlefield play4free is still on this engine and making money so I don't think it will happen soon.

Honestly the removal of BF2 from Steam and Origin has been a big hit. Unless EA does something incredibly charitable and awesome (like releasing BF2 source code along with a free game download) then I think PR has some rough times ahead.

It is what you make of it, try to promote the game in various places. I got interested in PR by watching Youtube videos and such.

I stream on Twitch whenever I can, most of the time I get no viewers at all but every other stream there's a person asking where to download / how to start playing the game.
