IRL planes don't just tool around over the city, looking for things to shoot at. They're given orders and they follow them. Then they RTB. I think if we could model that, we wouldn't have half the USMC team camping the airstrip waiting for an A-10.

exactly
or preferably imo have the a10 much more vulnerable so that it has to circle well above AAM range waiting for a well spotted target - it's armoured to survive AA fire ... not withstand it and shrug it off. More than 10 25mm or higher hits or one AAM should have it in trouble and heading straight back for repairs.

In order of time taken...
thoughts.
SHORT:
Refuel
Re-arm (can take a while due to the GAU-8 avenger and its long time to rearm those 30mm rounds).
Repair serious damage
LONG

I would like to see repair take significantly longer than the others.
Perhaps they happen in order... 1 - Refuel, 2 - Rearm, then 3 - Repairs start.

Listen i love the Idea but i wont be using it till i know every Single vBF2 noob is not on that Runway waiting for me with a SRAW but when that Happen i will love finally having to Land the Aircraft as already alot of the PR map with Airfields are ready for this. On a Side Note the A-10 Cant Turn right Because of when you turn the Rudder for wheels it goes full 90 and is locked there.

For Carrier Landings say lets put this into Perspective: The USMC Has the Harrier II, On Take off its Normal, but on Landing its a VTOL Landing as they Do IRL as that is not a Real Carrier its only a Landing Ship Really and Does NOT use Arrest Wires ( The Harrier and F-35 Should not Be able to VTOL Carrying a Full Weapons Load and Fuel as this is highly un-realistic)

Personally, I think planes should LAND and stay on a repair square, something sort of like the chopper pad in size. Land the plane and it repairs/re-arms the plane.

As it stands, I shoot an AA at the A10, it leaves, comes back 20 seconds later at full health. I just can't stand it. The A10 is brutal on Al Basrah. I'm not asking for the A10 or any other plane to be nerfed, just change the way repairing works. I'm a pilot myself and right now, I find that repairing planes is so unrealistic, landing the plane and going on the repair spot (say, in a hanger) wouldn't be ruin the game play. The idea of flying is to avoid getting hit, once you get hit, you SHOULD have to land to repair and refuel, not just fly past the runway slowly.
In the .509 server update, airpower isn't invincible anymore. Two SA-7's working together at a ammo dump will do pretty dang good.

I notice alot of people here talking about how 'hard' turning the planes is... correct me if I'm wrong. But I'm pretty sure you can just hold the up arrow ( on the arrow pad ) and use the A and D keys to pretty much turn on a dime.

Trying to taxi the A10 in this is near enough impossible if you need to turn.

yea, it's a good idea . Its just to easy to just fly over an airfield or land, it should take more time and skill to repair and re-arm a plane

Sorry, but the two SA-7s have to work together. The kits are far apart and usually will get picked up by players not in the same squad, and they are up against 2 A10s and 2 cobras. Thats ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

Plus, the two guys with AA kits will be totally vulnerable to snipers, tanks, etc.

This is Project Reality, its not an arcade game. Swoop & Scoop should be changed for landing and repairing/refueling/reloading.

I think one SA7 should wound the aircfrat to the point that they have to fly back too base (losing control).

don't suppose there's much chance of using engineer technicals as tow vehicles with the current engine :(
