How do you know the number or Gulf War veterans alive today?

"To add to this a nearby Iraqi army base was overun and the remains of an armoured unit has pledged allegiance with the insurgency."
The War Veteran are nothing more than the guys that were in the army base... so it's realistic !

I think insurgents are highly organized. Often times they are the remnants of the army, the special forces, elite guard, etc. Sometimes they are foreign mercenaries and sometimes they are foreign commandos in civilian clothing.

They don't have air superiority and they are an unconventional fighting force, but they are highly organized.

Insurgents always have some Mastermind or Warlord, some leader. So I think insurgents having a commander is important. However I think the objectives in maps against insurgents are totally off. It shouldn't be a battle over territory, since the Western forces already have it. It should be much more particular objectives. Extraction is a perfect example of this, this is exactly the case that has happened in the first Gulf War and happens often. Assassination, seek & destroy, blow up some building or another, etc. Thats the kind of stuff that maps with insurgents should be like.

But thats just my opinion.

Millions fought in Iran/Iraq war and there are survivors of wars with Israel from the seventies and late sixties who could be in fighting shape. I honestly didn't consider them all to be former soldiers. Perhaps some fought against Israel as organized terrorists from Hamas or Hesbola. Others yet could have fought against the Russians in Afghanistan or Chechnya.
