some need to be turned up but thats not going to solve it. if you read what you quoted you would see it is BF2s hit detection and not the power of the guns. except the .50 cal because that goes through things and will often go through what is used for cover so if i pop up then the enemy knows where i am and can .50 through the wood and get me. guns need to be able to penetrate things more.

I mean, these people saying that it won't stop them from poking their heads out again to kill enemies switching position is sort of hubris. The point is you have already ducked in the first place and by the time you poke your head out to score some points, half an enemy squad may have changed position and possibly to one that puts you at grenade distance or worse. If 3 people spot you first and put even somewhat accurate fire over your head, don't honestly say you'll be shooting right back at them without flinching.
Good point Carp. Suppression is not meant to last for very long. If you don't flank an enemy quickly he will have time to escape or start tossing nade and smoke. Just because they are suppressed doesn't mean they aren't making plans for your arrival or an attack of there own

That's why this stuff has to happen very quickly. If squad one sees and suppresses squad two, but they take to much time preparing to flank/attack. Squad two will have a chance to smoke and nade (or whatever) and then take fire superiority away from squad one. Then squad one will be on the defensive, and will get flanked and taken out by squad two. You can't suppress for very long.
It's either shit or get off the pot. It's got to be either SUPPRESS AND ATTACK or SUPPRESS AND BYPASS. You can't sit there for a long time suppressing the enemy, cause now that they know where YOU are, they will be sending someone or something for ya.

Good point about penetration of rifle rounds. The thing about hit boxes is if you put it out there then it can be hit. Since the hitbox lags the player, it can be hit after you have moved back into cover. If players learn to continue to fire at where you were, then they stand a change of hitting you, even after you think, "boy I made it".

Read my post again. IF 3 people put semi-accurate fire on one position, it will either keep the enemies head down, clip him, or allow for the rest of the squad to flank around and kill him. You honestly going to stick your head out or insta-prone in the open when the odds are 3 or even 2:1?

i always take damage while under cover.. just like if you walk up to a vehicle and shoot your gun into the side, you take damage..
they should make it so when you fire the .50 sniper rifle it blurs your vision for 3 to 5 seconds, there is a video i saw on the pentagon channel with a whole room being disrupted each time it fired.. i'll link it when im not behind a firewall (cant access youtube here :/ )

Support players dont give very effective covering fire because they start off with so little ammo, and it is actually a chore to convince them to "waste" it. Support NEEDS MORE AMMO DRUMS!

My favorite time was on 24/7 albasrah when 4 people in my squad had SAW's, and there were waves of friggin insurgents hurling themselves in our direction... They piled up *fast* ...

As US, you guys are talking alot about the use of the SAW. What about the use of the M14 for acurate suppressive fire? As insurgent on Al Basrah, nothing is worse than hearing the crack of the M14 and seeing your squad members dying around you. I am not, however, denying the awesomeness of the SAW...

THe M14 isn't very good for "suppressive fire" because it doesn't put a lot of bullets downrage quickly. It also takes time to aim, and the weapon does not always kill in one shot, so it is limited to medium-long range combat. A squad of M16s along with 1 SAW firing full auto is suppressive fire, not a DMR.

However, a good Marksman or Sniper can keep an entire platoon of men suppressed if the conditions are correct.
1. Sniper is well conceled.
2. enemy is out in the open with no place to go but behind cover and no where to crawl. To come out is to risk being shot.
Marine Sniper, Carlos Hatchcock.

But with the PRM game, these conditions are not there, plus smoke grenades are abound, and players would still run away. Sure, plenty would die, but they would just spawn back in.
