It won't get rid of ****. You think the minimap is the reason for tks and idiots? Because that is contradicting yourself since they would have to look at the minimap in order to identify their targets, and once they identify, they shoot and kill.(most likely the enemy){GD}Dondero wrote:It will get rid of the smacktards. Those so called people that TK and have no idea what is going on.
Wrong. It is not necessary to use the minimap to ID targets.00SoldierofFortune00 wrote:Because that is contradicting yourself since they would have to look at the minimap in order to identify their targets, and once they identify, they shoot and kill.(most likely the enemy)
It is not that difficult to ID targets.00SoldierofFortune00 wrote: The reason we have a bunch of tks right now is because of the nametags being less visible at long ranges. If you eliminate the minimap, then it will be very differcult to not tk anyone you see in sight.
Sounds promising.'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']There's a bunch of design considerations we'd need to look at to remove the minimap. This won't be something we look at for v0.6.
Don't get me wrong.. I am not a big fan of it, but we'd need to have a good amount of play testing and time to resolve issues (some that we can plan for and those that we dont plan for).
The tags do not always pop up, and are you going to stand there and wait for the tags to pop up and risk getting killed or shot?Cravixon wrote:You still have the main map and the tag pops up if you hold your sights on the target.
What if they are in a building? The only way you will be able to ID them is to check the minimap while under cover and see. The minimap is essentially communication with the other squads since you cannot communicate with their SL or their squad mates. And without spotting, how are you suppose to tell other friendly squads where the enemy is? That pretty much eliminates the large scale tactics in the game. You can try to rely on the commander for that, but there isn't always one or he will be helping someone else out.{GD}StevenGarcia wrote:Wrong. It is not necessary to use the minimap to ID targets.

How can they tk when they check their minimap? That is what it is for!!!!!

While there are some benefits to the no minimap idea, there are also a bunch of disadvantages.
What needs to happen is an open beta on one server(maybe server side patch?) and then have the community test it out and see what they say before something is finally decided on.
All you have to do is hit 'M' or Caps Lock. That not so hard is it?00SoldierofFortune00 wrote: What if they are in a building? Yea, I am fine with that if it is done correctly, but it seems that some of you want to eliminate spotting and a bunch of other stuff off the minimap as well.{GD}StevenGarcia wrote:All you have to do is hit 'M' or Caps Lock. That not so hard is it?
'[R-DEV wrote:fuzzhead']Say "YES!" to Mini-map Removal
I truly believe that with the 'Mini-Map' removed, that PRM will become closer to what we all would love to play, an immersive, tactical shooter that is as close to real life combat as we can get, yet still maintains a fun, coherent experience filled with teamwork and friends.
exactly what I think.=Romagnolo= wrote:Remove the mini-map, but the normal map (M) should stay. Its like a soldier, if he needs see the map, he stops fight, find cover and take out the map from his pocket. In game, stop fight, find cover, take out you map from you pocket pressing M.
PERFECT !
