Ah, gone are the days when an American would come in here and attempt to argue that the M4 (and the rest of the M16 series) are the best assault rilfes ever.sekiryu wrote:I believe that alot of the stuff we produce is utter shit. Point in case: M4.
I think a mixture of the "vs" thread lockdown incident and the repeated beat downs they got must have put the fight out of them.
Which is sad, as the forum isnt nearly as much fun without being able to indulge in my hobby of American baiting...
Anyway, we're getting off topic. If possible Tank stablisers should be implimented at the earliest opportunity, however, IIRC they have already been looked into and deemed very difficult/impossible
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

Well I'm thankfull that there was at least a patch for mounted MG stabilization, remember when BF2 had just come out "ahhhhh I can't hit jack stop moving!"

although the fact that the warrior and chally are PR's own should suggest that stabilisation is possible. The successful implementation of it on the landrover suprised the hell out of me - pointing a weapon at a friendly and letting go of the mouse, the driver doing a u turn and finding the mg still pointed at that soldier was well totally unrealistic for a rover but does give me hope that it can be implemented on the PR tanks.Bob_Marley wrote:Ah, gone are the days when an American would come in here and attempt to argue that the M4 (and the rest of the M16 series) are the best assault rilfes ever.

yeah needs looking into. I have a couple of ideas on a really simple approach, but a lot of the stuff we try is a bit experimental and can be very time consuming.
We're getting there with the tanks tho. imo the tanks in v0.6 are amongst the best in any *non tank sim* games. v0.5 was the first time we really looked at vehicles, v0.6 is a continuation of that effort and I think that v0.7 will see them polished up nicely... typically takes about 3 releases to get things where we want them.

So that Bob will feel better.
Best handgun in the world...Colt model 1911
If not the best, the best known and meanest looking.
BTW.. tanks are incredible most especially the drivers view.

No, the Best handgun in the world is FN-Browning High Power. Bigger capacity, more practical and less expensive round and looks better!ArmedDrunk&Angry wrote:So that Bob will feel better.

shot trap
That was the first 9mm I ever read about and all the secret agent types were carrying it.
Just like the FN FAL will always be my favorite assault rifle despite is deficiencies
I personally don't really care if the Leopard is better than the Challenger or whatever and I never understood why people got so prickly over things like that.
Sort of on topic, does the M1 still have a shot trap under the main gun in the game ?
Got killed w/ 1 round last night in a perfect tank, no damage at all and then BOOM !

There are 1 hit kill spots in all of the tanks. T-90 is the hardest to hit. But in the M1A2 you have to hit the front armored plate (down by where the driver sits) and ricochet the round up into the underside of the turret, hard to do in the heat of battle and I know that's how it works in vanilla but I only remember that because Rhino did an entire experiment type thing on it) Same thing for other tanks the T-90 is the oddest though I've heard there is a 1hit kill spot but I don't understand how to get it.

John Browning designed weapons for a number of companies, including Colt, Remington, FN, and Browning Arms Company. Just because a weapon is produced by a specific company doesn't change it's origins. For example, when I was in the Marines our M16A4s were made by FN, but the design is undoubtedly American.
Such is life.

Well, the J M Browning was only partially responsible for the design of the Hi Power, the final version being improved by Dieudonne Saive following Browning's death.DOAW wrote:John Browning designed weapons for a number of companies, including Colt, Remington, FN, and Browning Arms Company. Anyway, can we please stop this and get back to the topic at hand?
It sure would be handy to have fully stablised tank turrets!

Dont you think we should let thgis one go? egg has allready answered and said that they are working on it and unless someone comes around the corner with some earthshaking news about stabilisers beeing in-game tomorrow or a splendid new way of solving this problem I think we could let this thread die.
Anthony Lloyd, himself a former soldier in the British army and a Northern Ireland and Gulf War veteran:
"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."
