Why not just 'I'm down! Medic!' or something like that? Because what the OP said is OTT in my view. Also, change the US medic call, it's just lame, sounds like he needs a bandaid or something.

Red orchestra has recently implemented such feature and its absolutely brilliant. Whenever you shoot someone now, they give out a howling scream. Adds alot to the experience of war and death... When there are huge fire fights taking place, you hear death screams all around you and it's almost scary at times.

If this was added to PR, I think it would be amazing. Good point Byson

Cheers....

RO was a great mod when it came to realism cant wait for the new one on the Unreal 3 Engine, that will pwn all! back to the current topic though I think at the end of the day its up to the devs to decide whether or not they really want so much realism in their realism mod, I can understand peoples point of view that it might be going a little to far but on the otherhand in my quest for true immersive gaming I cant see how we could possibly leave realistic sounds out....

We will have to see what happens with future releases i guess

Surround wrote:I think the civilians in the 0.6 beta made it much more realistic. Now you cant shoot anybody you want. You had to thought who you shoot. And that what makes you think about war and how bad it is.

Thats why I think it would add lots of more realism to pr if if there were whining and screaming people after they are dead. I'm sure that plenty of peope would start thinking it's not nice to shoot people, even not in the game. That would add realism.
sry i had a problem with the message

So...you do not know how to punctuate, or spell. And you want to question a bunch of very intelligent "fucktards" in the UN who don't like unarmed civilians shot down in cold blood?

Ostfront is the unreal 2.5 engine, its a tweaked unreal 2 engine basically, they are working on the unreal 3 RO now, expect it to be realeased in the shops at about £30/40, looking forward to it, its a very good game

Whys everyone calling this guys twisted when the gratuity of game like doom3 and such is perfectly fine and unquestioned by this kind of demographic?

I think it's a great idea because if you hear a guy a few feet ahead of you get shot then screaming a bit then you'll think twice about coming out of cover so fast.

Plus it'll add to the general ambience of a battle which (no offence to the sound team member because their doing a great job at the the moment working and reworking stuff) is lacking a little still. Stuff like this adds a more organic ambience then the usual solution of having a looping background track.

perhaps it has to do with the 'reality' part of this mod. In doom we are killing aliens. In PR we are killing troops. To be honest, if soldiers in this mod were made limbless and mutilated by an IED, writhing on the ground and screaming for their moms, while something very similar could be happening in real life, is a bit unsettling. Leave it as it is, IMO. No need for added angst and gore.

Ok bad reference but there are plenty of nasty FPSs out there that involve humans been killed, WW2 shooters seem to be particularly guilty of this but that's what makes games like these so atmospheric.

true, but ww2 is not going on as we speak either.

So if its a matter of sensitivity do you really want these simulated battles to appear as non-consequential. I think it's ridiculous and much sicker that games like Americas Army can be given to kids to actively draft them into an army (where no doubt they'll be subjected to things much worse then any video game) but since that displays no trace of blood or guts it suitable for a 16 year old instead of a 18 year old?

So effectively what censorship bodies and the greater populous are condoning at the moment is the notion that it's fine for kids to shoot the hell out of each other as long as there's no consequence of the emulated violence, but the minute that something like that tries to display a bit of reality, by say having the guy you just shot in the head having no face left, then we have to immediately rescue poor children from what is real.

Obviously not many kids play PR but a very similar logic applies.

My opinion:
if you want to see guys with no faces and hear the deseprate cries of IED victims, join the freakin army and go to Iraq. That's my take. I see your logic in the censorship issue, but personally I have outgrown the 'soldier of fortune' gore/dismemberment style of video game. It's just not needed! We have blood spray and death cries.

It should not be outlawed of course, as I do not believe in forced censorship for the most part. But in my opinion the gme could do without. We all know what war brings.

The tactics are semi-realstic, isn't that enough?
