Man, DF1 rocked if you liked to snipe...was truely awesome for clan matches. I was in =DFA= (death from above...real original ;) ) for about a year or so in 2000.

Hell yeah, I loved the M40...seemed like a lot of guys went after that Barret but I mastered the M40 and just hunting those other loud guys down. It was amazing how much depth the sniping had in the game. Lots of counter sniping and 10 minute walks :)

Oh yea, getting knifed was common or LAW sniped. I loved how you could run a few miles out and then come back to get behind someone. Knife fights under water was fun too.

To pull this back on topic:

I think that the easiest way to end the confusion of the hit-detection would be the removal of the blood.
Although I might be totally wrong here, I think that the amount of blood that spurts out with a hit nowadays is just too much. I'd sooner think that the blood comes out in s splash rather than a cloud, and also on the exit-wound rather than the entry-wound.

So,if we just remove the blood, we'd have just one mean of confirming a hit: the target going down. At least at distances <100 meters, I think this is more realistic than just a cloud of red dust.

Hmm...I'm tempted to bet that the total removal of blood may well be hardcoded, but we'll see.

Vanilla has no blood at all, so it's definitely not hardcoded. ;-)

Nah,but it has those dust-clouds in grey, adn I assume they were just mmade red for PR. So we can influence the color, but if we can influence if it appears at all is another question :(

I'd be nice if the blood was tied to a confirmed hit. If it can't I'd rather the blood still be there :) So do you guys get such bad performance on all servers? You should definitely test out some other ones even if their ping shows to be slightly higher in the server menu....ping is not always correctly shown in the server menu...and ping is not always indicative of how well your performance may be.

IMO the blood is pointless because it does not = a hit. Same with dust, I assume if the color can be changed that you would be able to make the dust transparent so you can't see it.

Maybe blood should be removed if its creating false=positives. False positives are a bad thing...they always make a bad situation worse and add to the frustration and confusion.

I agree with our comrade up there. Blood is just a visual effect, not important in the game. Many times, i shoot people on the head, watch the blood and they still there (ok, i shoot again and kill them). If something that is purely visual is interfering with the game, take it out, we don't need it.

Hitting is pretty good, I hit people runnig easely and stuff, but this blood thing is a bit confusing

Time and again I hear people saying to me "Fuck! I wasted my entire mag, the guy spitted blood out of his *** and he was still there and KILLED me??"

IMHO, you guys should remove it :)
