I really hope that all of the heat shields are on the M16A4. Any pictures of the model yet?

The Army is planned for 0.8 or something right?

There was a prototype UGL made around the same time for the L85A1 that never entered service, the Hilton HG40.

Sorry for the off topic but are we going to expect some of the US Army elements to come from the USI mod?

Army will apparently have the same kit layout as USMC only with the M4 in place of the M16.

Yeah, that means it solves a lot of the US-MEC uniform recognition issues, on all the maps that get converted to US Army.

If you see something brownish in the distance, it's MEC.

If you see a lump of vomit moving in the distance, it's the US Armies ACU.

I'm HOPING all the US Army maps will be urban fighting -- otherwise that M4 is going to get them killed.

There'll be, assuming egg keeps with his superb ballistic simulating ;-) , slightly more damage drop-off at distances greater than 300m but up to that I'd say they'll be just as effective an an M16. Keep in mind they're getting ACOGs and UGLs too

Oh, they are getting ACOGs then?

Well, since it has a shorter barrel, wouldn't that make it much lower velocity?

from what I've heard, it's still just as lethal up to 300m.

I scream for a medic, check the map and see one or two red crosses on the entire team, one on an average day.

And even that one just stands around to find the glitch, where he can heal himself, but gets shot or bleeds out before that.
Or he doesnt even know, how to use the medibag and stares at you, while you bleed out.
AFAIK, if you do the "NEED MEDIC!" it only shows medics within like 10M around you.

I still believe one of the Army kits should have the M16A4 for those who want it.

Or you could give their special forces class the M16A3. (reuse the M16A4 model and give it full auto)

yeah
us army should be a lot more prevalent on maps. as a playable faction.
us marine EUs don't really do a whole lot in the way of occupation and insurgency fighting
marines are first to fight, first to leave
army is there forever

Marines are still in Iraq. My friend is going to be shipped out to a village north of Al Fallujah in Feb.
