What I really hate about newcomers, is that they all instapunish TKs, regardless of accident or intentional.

I plant a land mine near an enemy vehicle, a squaddie somehow manages to trigger it and it explodes, killing the car and him. And I get instapunished. Its like, they got a script which automatically punishes a TK, when they get TK'd.

Then we all said "wtf dont punish for accidental TKs, shit happens", he asks "how do you forgive then?" press Page Up? :| ...

Well just don't play on servers with "punish" enabled.
MrD;461159']hmm, I was on the other team..........................

Sorry, guess the two vehicles I blew up with you in, giving you enough negative points that got you booted off the server were just something that happens.

I didn't hear anything over TS slating you, of course I don't know if any teamchat or squad voip was going on there.

Wasn't long before that I was on another server and got kicked for destroying assets in an enemy main base (tanks, apc's, command post) although I have to admit my squadmate was happily gunning people down a bit too much.

I then rejoined and got booted off myself when a squad and clan mate drove round in a circle and drove at me, resulting in me blowing his vehicle and gaining more negative points and getting an autokick again!

Personally, I thought that was hysterical! Although the earlier kick wasn't quite right considering no dome of death and I wasn't going out of MY way to target enemy troops (except to shoot the engineers trying to remove my mines :) )
Quite how you managed to still kill me, despite the "stop shooting, stop shooting me FFS", I will never know. The tank was already dead, and I had already told you where I was and to not shoot me, I'm coming in.
Guess that's another reason I should stop playing with speakers, so you can hear me over the engine noise.
Heh, reminds me of the time I was playing Jabal and then someone in my squad said over VOIP, who sounded really young, asked how to switch seats in a vehicle. One of the squadmembers said, "F1, F2, F3." He replied with an "Oh..." I said, "Been playing Karkand infantry only, huh?" I mean, if you don't know the controls of vBF2...
I played vBF2 for about three months before finding PR and never coming back. I only found out about changing positions in vehicles after a few days in PR :S

On another note, newbs and noobs.

You have your newb. I'm kind to the newb. Should the newb join my squad, and declare he is a newb (as most do) then I will usually help him. If however, I do not know he is a newb, and have to explain something to him in the middle of a firefight, I may get a little irate, but will take my time to tell him properly.

You have the noob. The noob doesn't see himself as a newb, but he is. He thinks everything should be like vanilla (usually) and plays the game in a similar way. If I have a noob in my squad, then I will try and tell him what to do. Sometimes however, they just use me as another spawn point, and don't play as a team, don't move with me and don't follow orders. These are the ones that get the boot from my squad.

Whilst I have frequently told people to read the manual (it is indeed a good read), if the person is in my squad, or it is a quick type to tell them, then I tell them.

Then there are the embarrassing moments, where you preach to the noob not to fly the A10 until he has practised, then you get in it and crash due to some unlucky timing with being messaged on xfire, or some similar turn of fate.

Quite often however, I will do my noob act, and hit a mine in a full APC or crash a full chopper, or something similar. Whilst this is embarrassing, I know that the reason was I was scratching my arse/looking out of the window/got messaged on xifre (that's always a killer when I'm flying a chopper)/lost connection briefly, but others don't and sometimes I get bashed for it. It's not nice, but in cases of people toppling all the choppers one by one (yes, I've seen it happen), or taking a transport on their own, not letting anyone else in, it is justified.

It all depends on the circumstances, and personally I stuck with PR for, among other reasons, the lack of elitists compared to vanilla (and other games).

Looks like the lot of you needs to experience the thrill of beeing employed.

Be humble. Check your ego at the door. You don't know jack? Ask questions. Learn and grow. That is; if you figure out who you can ask without beeing crapped on, ridiculed, pushed around, booted of the squad. And hey, if you're still around after that last treatment ... you can carry on the proud tradition of beeing a arrogant and a jackass. Cause you've survived the hazing and your still here!

And maybe, just maybe - you get promoted and suddenly that piece of ... is under YOUR chain of command. MWAHAHAHA .. ha ... ha ... *cough cough*

Am I still talking about PR or about my career?

Same thing, innit? :-P

Anyway, the last couple of games I've played, I've spent half my time answering questions from people via global chat. I suggest more people do the same. Everyone has questions, and asking the players is a lot easier than reading TFM. Although they should obviously have done that first, it's a bit of a learning-by-doing thing. Being a rude b*stard doesn't really do anything apart from increasing your e-penis size, and having a big e-penis is really just sad. ;)

FoW_Strummer wrote:I have played PR off and on for about 1 year. I have to say that the community in PR (for the most part) is very snobby and non-supportive to new or newer players. I am not by any means a beginner, but because I do not play this alot (about 1 round per day average), I still have much to learn. Part of learning is making mistakes and poor judgements. I think if PR wants to survive it should dedicate some servers to beginners or novices because alot of players and clans that play PR are just really..well...(INPUT WORD OF CHOICE HERE). Its not just me, I talk to alot of clans that play RVS, AA and BF2,..alot say the same thing. "PR is a really good game, but man are people mean." I have been rudely booted off of servers, squads and called alot of really lame things via VoiP. I invite anyone who wants to call me names because I accidently tk to join me on my TS server and explain to me the reason for being a TARD because of a mistake. I guess alot of people who play PR never lost a tank or APC, never missed a heal, never tk'ed, never forgot to get a kit. GET REAL. All of you SNOBTARDS have fun with your little cliques cos I for one do not want any part of it. PR is pretty much the CADDYSHACK of the online gaming world....I know its not all servers, but when a fair number of clans behave a certain way, the community gets reputation...

I know you all will say,.."yeah whatever, Strummer had a couple bad experiences"..Thats fine, but believe me I would not post if I didnt think it was a problem. IT IS. Unless, the community does not want any new players..(which may be the case)....better PR...(thats public relations) better get better, cos people are leaving this game in droves...(4 of my clan members refuse to play this).

I love the game, but I am definitely staying away from certain servers. I wont say names, but its not surprising that those particular servers only have limited amount of people on them. This is just my opinion, and not meant to upset anyone in particular..

I guess you're referring to the TB server where I was wondering how it could have happened that I connect to the server, spawn (EJOD running) and die because of the friendly tank exploding right next to me even though both city parts (west and east) weren' captured by your team. Being rude (calling me a poofta) didn't help much either but killing me at mainbase after the small chat made it rather worse. I don't mind you guys playing on our server at all and destroying assets like command post is okay - but I think gameplay on public server would rather frustrating if squads would move first to enemybase and constantly destroying vehicles and not letting the other team having a chance to get out of main. FYI it wasn't me who kicked you... but weird that you did that base stuff wit' your .:igi:. tag and then return with an [R-PUB] tag....

FoW_Strummer... not everybody has to play the game and not everybody wants to spend his time explaining new guys how to play this game esp. if there are so many asking over and over again how to get into apcs - where the supply zone is e.g. Whoever's asking a question in my squad will get a correct and polite response - I don't mind helping out if someone doesn't know how what or whatsoever... help the team for the win but new guys... read the wiki and the manual so that people don't have to explain the basics again and again...

I think theres just a very fine line between annoying questions and totally valid ones.

I honestly dont mind helping guys out, especially if they ask nicely and are willing to wait and learn... but when they come in expecting us to drop everything and answer in 10 seconds while in a firefight and complain we took too long or that we shouldve been more specific etc. it gets a tad annoying. Its like, Ill help regardless, but when the person almost comes across as if its the Vet(or... "more experienced" shall we say?)'s duty to cater to them... No.

Theres a big difference there, and the dividing line for everyone is different... :)

But... i think im coming across as too much of an *******, im really a nice guy.... honest!

and Clav, i saw you in game the other day... i expect a 10 next time you post under me! ;) kidding, give me what i deserve

I have noticed some kind of peer pressure thing between members on these forums.
Its all down to the 1st post. If so and so says "Lolzski, Spell check!", then the next guy follows suit and then the next 8 post are filled with pure disregard and mockery.
It usually takes someone with a color in their name to break it all up.
Sad, isn't it.

I'd like to remind all members of the forums that harsh reprimands could, possibly, maybe, somehow.... be taken against those who harass new members, EVEN IF its a new member with 1 post who suggests some alteration to alighting from black hawks, like in BHD.

Yes, think of all the people you scare away that might degrade your gameplay....Think of all the bad first impressions that scare away the ones that greaten it.
