Eh, if you're going to give C4 to the Spec Ops, keep C4 on engineer as well. Also keep the SLAM's as they're useful as well, for light vehicles.

Why not just leave spec ops just as they are and give clays to engineers making them the "exploseves expert" kit. And make it possible to remove/pick it back up them with wrench.

for the love of god dont give them to the sniper/marksmen kits

Imo, I think that the engineer just needs more explosives. Drop the rifle maybe, and give him just a pistol, plus C4, Slams, Mines and Claymores?

more like a submachine gun instead of a rifle, that way he can still pwn in CQC

Or make him a non-combat supportive class?

Nah shotgun is best imo. But i would love to get more explosives to the engineer kit. Or maybe get a requestable "saboteut kit" with 2 C4s 4 SLAMs 4Claymores and a carabine or SMG.

I cant Imagine the ammount of spamming with claymores there will be in Assault on Mestia
Anyway, claymores would be great for Spec Ops, or Engineer. I dont really think the Engineer needs more explosives. I think his landmines would be better if they were actually buried in the ground with only a little part showing. so you have to be careful. Id probably say give it to the Spec Ops. Because they have a M4 thats good in close quarters and ambushes. And if anyone thinks that people are now going to spam the Spec Ops kit because of the scope and claymores, replace that M4 with the regular iron sights that are being given to the army.

C4 works great on Mestia too.

That's why I wanted the Militia to not have RPG/Eryx -- make them focus on the traps.

M18A1 Fragmentation mines
Operation and Effect
When detonated, the M18A1 Claymore delivers 700 spherical steel balls over a 60° fan-shaped pattern that is two meters high (6 ft, 8 in) and 50 meters (165 ft) wide at a range of 50 meters (165 ft). These fragments are moderately effective up to a range of 100 meters (328 ft) and can travel up to 250 meters (820 ft) forward of the weapon. The optimum effective range is 50 meters (165 ft), at which the optimal balance is achieved between lethality and area coverage.
The Claymore mine is typically deployed in one of three modes: Controlled, Uncontrolled, or Time-delayed.
Controlled Mode (also known as Command Detonation)
The mine is detonated by the operator as the forward edge of the enemy approaches a point within the killing zone (20 to 30 meters (65 to 100 ft)) where maximum casualties can be inflicted. Controlled detonation may be accomplished by use of either an electrical or nonelectrical firing system. When mines are employed in the controlled role, they are treated the same as individual weapons and are reported for inclusion in the unit fire plan. They are not reported as mines; however, the emplacing unit must ensure that the mines are either removed, detonated, or turned over to a relieving unit. The M57 Firing Device (colloquially referred to as the "clacker") is included with the M18A1 Claymore Mine so that it can be used in the controlled mode. When Claymore Mines are daisy chained together, one M57 firing device can initiate several claymore mines.
Uncontrolled Mode (also known as Victim Initiated Detonation)
Uncontrolled firing is accomplished when the mine is installed in such a manner as to cause an unsuspecting enemy to detonate the mine. Mines employed in this manner must be reported and recorded as land mines. There are many mechanisms that can be used to initiate the M18A1 in uncontrolled mode, including the M142 Multipurpose Firing Device, M5 Pressure Release Device (mousetrap), tripwires, strikers, infrared sensors, acoustic & vibration sensors.
Time-delayed Mode
Time-delayed firing involves the fitting of a short timed fuse and a fuse igniter to allow the mine to be used as a pursuit deterrent. This, anecdotally, may be combined with a CS grenade or bag containing the irritant contained in a CS grenade. The mine is emplaced, quickly oriented on the direction pursuers are most likely to take, and the fuse is ignited before the position is abandoned.
When in use by the U.S. Military, the M18A1 Claymore Anti-Personnel Mine is most often command-detonated. Such use is permitted by the Mine Ban Treaty. However, use of Claymore mines in uncontrolled (tripwire) mode is prohibited by the treaty.[1] Because of this uncontrolled mode, it is frequently listed in efforts to ban anti-personnel mines. While the United States has been an active participant in worldwide demining operations, and has signed the 1996 Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, it has not signed the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction, commonly known as the land mine ban treaty. Under the 1996 Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines the US forces may legally use the claymore in victim initiated detonation as long as provisions of the protocol are met. Provisions of the protocol center around confining landmines to clearly known and marked areas such that the chances of civilian incursion into mined areas is so low as to minimize civilian risks and casualties. As such, it is a requirement for the individual U.S. soldier & Marine to know how to properly deploy and emplace the M18A1 landmine in compliance with appropriate regulations.

Anti-personnel mine Blast mines
This type of land mine is normally
designed to injure—as opposed to killing—as many enemies as possible in order to increase the logistical (mostly medical) support required by such an enemy force. Some types of anti-personnel mines can also damage the tracks on armoured vehicles or the tires of wheeled vehicles.
Other uses specific to anti-personnel mines, would be where they were deployed singly or in small numbers on an ad hoc basis in situations such as the following:
- When laying an ambush.
- Protecting a temporary base.
- To evade pursuit (e.g. M86 Pursuit Deterrent Munition)
- To protect equipment by employing the mines as booby traps.
- To booby trap other mines as a form of anti-handling mechanism
The resulting injuries to a human body depend on the size of the mine's main charge, the depth and type of soil it was laid in and how the victim contacted it.
Anti-personnel blast mines are the most common type of land mine and typically deployed on the surface (hidden by leaves or rocks) or buried under soil at depths of 10 – 40 mm.

If claymore's will get back shouldn't the engineer get the ability to minesweep? Interesting faction having an engineer sweeping a mine for approximately 30 sec while guarded by his squad for a vital path the squad need to cross.

These things have acquired the name "gaymore" for a reason, not that I approve of the specific terminology, but automated claymores are in one word... lame. Realistic as they may be they should be limited to limited classes if they are to return, the controlled mines could be part of a basic kit, but no way in hell should the auto ones be for the simple reason that moving in any built up area would be an exercise of frustration, instead of tactics.

is there anyway to get a deployment delay on mines to similate the time it would atke to get one out and deploy it, like the HAT? it kinda annoys me that a engineer can get one out and throw it down like a frisby in like 10 seconds.
Maybe a 2 min on AT mines and 45 seconds on a claymore? so that people can just change from a gun to the mine straight away (possibly putting them off just running upto a tank with a mine - because it so realistic, and i see it all the time, these combat engineers running upto tank under fire digging a whole under a tanks tracks and then deploying a mine there before running around to the other side to deplay some c4 on it...)

i agree with 1 claymore only at a time (maximum placeable up to 8 like the mines) and they are remote detonated
