ReadMenace wrote:Technically there are NO Mercenaries in Iraq, they are Private Military Contractors (PMC) and Private Security Contractors (PSC); most PSCs will take offense to the term "mercenary." What I was pointing out is that the figure that there are tens of thousands of Contractors in Iraq is misleading, primarily because the majority of contractors are not PSCs. PMCs serve contracts for mundane services such as laundry, vehicle maintenance, water purification, pizza slicing, etc... PSCs serve security contracts for diplomatic security, static security, mobile security etc.. These are Blackwater, Triple Canopy, etc.. People with guns. PMCs make up the majority of said figure, not PSCs.

Maybe or maybe not. Do you have some confirmed data about number of "people with guns" in Iraq? If you don't have it then I prefer my version of reality

Ok. They are not mercenaries.

I don't know who made it, but it may be one of PMCs/PSCs.

C7/C8 the canadian version of the M4 and M16 and where it's the C8 aka m/96 that is the primary weapon used, with a full auto function and a added scope.

M4 = M/96 most used
M16 = M/95 rarely used except in special provinces like afghanistan.
Thats true I had forgotten the callsign when I wrote it. We use the M95 which actually is a canadian Colt C7A2, which is a modified M16A4 I believe.
+ aimpoint "scope".

sorry for the crappy description in the first post ;)

danish military uses:
rifle: C7A2
carbine: C8A2
LMG: MG3
LSW: modified C7

That should be the standard issue weaponery.

and a btw:

"light at" - AT-4
"heavy at" - cant remember but Saab makes it.

Whoever made that video was just grabbing pictures of people they percieve to be members of a PSC.. A prime example is at 0:37 there is a picture of a Cavalry Arms employee, who is participating in the "MGM Ironman 3 Gun Match"... Anyways, yes, I absolutely question those numbers; according to General Peter Pace, there are 137,000 contractorsin Iraq. That is from Sept 27, 2007.
If someone wants to add PSCs to the game, more power to them, but the amount of effort to represent them accurately would be counter productive in my opinion.

I think south africa or blackwater would be the best addition to PR. both are pretty obscure and would have a unique play style.
Image
blackwater: expensive high-tech weaponry with light vehicles.

SA military: fast moving wheeled mobile artillery and modern light vehicles.

Yeah, I know the idea is being tossed around but is that group actually going to go ahead with it? If so, great!

I honestly think its a good idea - game play wise, but I fear that many people dismiss it because I'm danish too.. that might be a part of it too, but its not the main priority to force my native contry through.

I only know about the danish working together with the british, but if there are more contires doing the same I support support troops.

I was watching a film-doco by Evan Williams, and (while sort of inappropriate to their situation..) I got an idea for a Team 2 "insurgent" faction, or guerilla army.

Episode Link

The Karen Guerillas with aid and additional security assistance from the Free Burma Rangers against the Myanmar army, as suggested a few pages back.

They would operate similar to the Militia that is already implemented. Their weapons vary from aging Russian AKs and RPGs to Vietnam-era American small arms and M-72s.

Photo Gallery

Main assault rifle - Ak-47 or Type-56
Secondary assault rifle - M16A1
LSW - M-60 or PKM (both pickups?)
Long-Rifle - SKS, Mosin or Lee Enfield No. 5
Grenadier - M-79 (The class would be supplemented with a pistol)
Pistol - Colt 1911a1

L-AT - RPGs or M-72 LAWs
H-AT - Eryx, but unlikely due to level of sophistication of the guerillas

Vehicles
Technicals, but due to the nature of a jungle-style guerilla war, its unlikely.

They could be supplemented by foreign air-support, US or British air-power in the form of Helis, just for balance on the larger maps.

I reckon I might as well create a South-East Asian theatre :P But not now.. gotta study..
