I believe S.P.C-[Reality] was referring to your circumventing the ROM drive entirely by making a copy of the disk in a virtual drive.

Wait... huh???

I never made a copy in a virtual drive... I just installed the game and put the CD in to play it.

That's all I know...

You never actually mentioned how vBF2 runs on your machine, or if in fact you've ever even loaded BF2. I'm starting to fall into the it's a warez version camp. Vanilla BF2 works perfectly on my machine...

Connection problems are rare, I seem to experience lag only on some servers and I always end up finding another server which will be lag-free... so the thing is that more than half of the time - it's not on my part, I seriously cannot recall a time in the past 6 months where I wanted to throw out my computer because it wasn't working correctly...

Sure I felt like that with certain mods but when you listen to MrD it gets fixed pretty quick!

Though I am not familliar with the term, "warez version" I have to say that there are no problems with the retail game.

And hey! If you were me I'm sure you would be just as frusterated... I've been looking for help and trying different methods of trying to play PR for more than a month by now and so yeah, you can tell... I'm desperate!

I'm sorry guys I'm not sure really what to say... I do lots of things in school and outside of school... I don't really have time to figure out how to do all this crazy stuff which is probably normal to you guys...

I know it isn't rocket science but MrD is probably right and I just need to google some stuff and figure out to do this right so I don't slow anybody down. You guys have been most helpful though and the best part is I think I know what my problem is!!

I'll post here again within a week if I get it figured out cuz I'm sure I just hit something!

I've been playing BF2 for almost 2 years but I'm just one of those guys that just sit down and play for hours just to relax...

Yeah, that's an easy one... I always put in my BF2 Vanilla CD in before I play...

If I don't a message pops up saying I need to "please insert the disk into the CD drive and click ok" or something so yeah, there you go!

oomm i see. cause before i used crack files and i got almost the same prob as you do, but i actualy got to join a server and then the game crashed to desktop. so that cant be your problem!!

Yea buddy, I personally do feel kinda bad for coming down on you so hard, as originally I did say I was empathetic (meaning I feel your pain) about your problem.

So yea, take a breather and try and sort out what you think might be wrong and because your threads are all over the place and somewhat confusing at this point, re-post in help section if your unsuccessful. List all your hardware and related software as well as all attempts to rectify your problem. Try and be both as thorough as possible, as well as brief, in order to be read.

I'm betting on my money though on the fact that I need v0.609 which somebody posted earlier because I know for sure the link I downloaded PR from was this site and was labeled as v0.6 so I think I'll google it!

Well, the shortcut would say Open Beta, if you downloaded a beta version of 0.6, since first one was .604, then .605, .607 and final is .609 and the (hopefully) upcoming patch .610

Well lets say I find out that I had v0.609 all along but for some strange reason I can't play online... Do you have any idea when the next release of the (hopefully) upcoming pactch v0.610 will be available for download?
