When you devs say ground do u mean the phyical map or does the code take statics into effect?

Damn straight brother. I thought the whole random paratroop **** was a complete farce anyway. From what I've heard the done thing is either massive paratroop insertions or small special operations that have nothing to do with conventional armed forces in the first place.
By the way since when has jumping into the water hurt you? Is this something you managed to sort out for 0.6?

I like the way the devs are going with parachutes, being that they're only available on a map basis. I also like the whole concept of having to deploy your chute at a certain height too. If I remember correctly, one of the community projects has some sort of transport aircraft in the works. I believe it's suppose to sit in the sky in a static state so players spawn in and jump out. Might be the best concept for most if not all paratrooper maps.

Lollerskates at the idiots saying a few guys chuting in is realistic.
Care to guess how many Airborne insertions have been conducted in Iraq/Afganistan?
Get over this stupid idea of 'ZOMG I"M A SF AIRBORNE RECON RAMBO PWNER!' bs.

Even if it has not been used lately, it is still something that the military uses. I don't know, its either this or...........fast ropes

Ah ok, this possible to be fixed to stop those stupid water drops then, or is it hardcoded/very difficult to make it cause anymore damage?

I noticed that if I parachute at short distance into water then I die like its concrete.
Dont deploy the parachute and its fine, just the slight damage.
Im fine with living after falling into water, I know it could be bad but its realistic enough ? It does not seem over used

they should bring them back in . . but make it you need to be a fair distance away from statics to use them . . becuase of the new chute system . . its alot "better" as you can't jump off a building and go weeee .. .

I say:
No to paratrooper class.
No to SL 'chutes.
I occasionally do a thing where my whole squad (sometimes with another squad if we're all on TS) piles into (a) transport chopper(s) and does a para-drop. Normally this is only into more built up areas, such as the bunkers on Kashan or the forest on Ghost. Since a few mates of mine and I actually put a bit of effort into learning how to get pistol kills quick, and where and when to attack, we tend to do well, often disrupting enemy vehicle supplies and destroying key bunkers.

But in your case the advantage of dropping in is balanced by your very limited kit.
I was told the pilot as SL idea was considered an exploit and while there are elements in the game that are not realistic it is not because the DEVs want it that way, it is because EA in their infinite wisdom ( sarcasm ) hardcoded them that way.
A map like Airport, with the whole team starting out as paratroopers would be very interesting but giving the SL or officer kit a 'chute is far too gamey IMHO.

I have it! make the parachute have ammo , you start off with none , and you get ammo by being in a helicopter for like
50 seconds and you loose it after a while . ..
