In some choppers, the rocket pods can tilt up and down. In the Apache, the laser rangefinder can be used to determine distance to target, which is fed to the targeting computer, which automatically adjusts for drop.
Also in the Apache, the pilot can control the chain gun with his head (or rather, his helmet mounted sight). Of course, the gun can also be controlled by the CPG. The whole point of pilot controlling the gun is to have the pilot on the lookout for mean-looking guys with long tubes in the immediate vicinity of the aircraft, while he hovers, and the gunner is heads-down in the cockpit, using the optics to aim missiles and whatnot.
