Well, that's pretty much exactly how it looked before the Sino-Soviet split - the russians and chinese were "comrades and brothers".
In other words - it is not unlikely that two nations will turn against each other even if they call each other allies.

Btw, I read something about that the russians won't be fighting the MEC. How come?

I think because the MEC has a lot of russian equipment.. and I think strategically,.. you won't sell your enemy your own ****.

is it still a PLA vs RF? Please let it be so, and sicaro, hope you realize that during the cold war both countries were friends only since they had a common enemy, but take the US out of equation, they hated each other. Probably still do.
Looks nice hope to see this in .8

You joking? Western countries sell tons of weapons to possible ennemies!
Tanks, planes, choppers, vehicles, missile launchers, rifles, etc ... All the surplus ends up being sold to X countries. Look at how many M1abrams and M16 some countries of the ME have, and they ain't friendly with West.
RF vs MEC is possible, as USArmy vs USMC is : It's the mapper's choice.

being half chinese, i dont.
and judging by the comments on this topic, the amount of misinformation and ignorance regarding sino-russian relations is quite surprising for a modification based on realism.
and for the record, being half scot, i dont like the idea of a brit vs usa map either.

When will people learn? Story and political realism goes out the window when you're on the battlefield, you are only limiting yourselves and all of PR if you were to impose such restrictions.

china and russia fought a small proxy war after vietnam i think it was , you could easil extrapolate that into a open conflict you coul even port over an old BF:V map as a base to work with maybe
but heres a good article to build off of
Russia and China rethink arms deals - International Herald Tribune
Sino-Soviet split - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PR had these 'restrictions' by default ever since 'reality' was included in the name. such a powerful word does hold certain expectations, think of how much flak someone would get if they made a germany vs isreal map for example.
pitting two allied countries against each other for the sake of gameplay and accusing those from those countries of restricting themselves by voicing their opposition is hardly justified imo, i fact i would even call it pretty damn insensitive.
but its not like im gonna stop you from making this map. however i doubt i would feel comfortable playing it though.

I'm all for IDF vs Germany map, after all - its just a game..don't take it seriously

Project REALITY. That is the key word and that is why pitting PLA vs. Russia is not something that should be done. Besides, if you change the faction to something like US or UK. Does it really limit gameplay?

The kit and vehicles are realistic... The political scenarios are not. This has been reiterated by the DEVs many times.

Keep it how it is now.
Let the Chinese attack for once, have they ever gone on the offensive? It only seems like they attack when they have to recover flags or the other team is annihilated.

Just to answer the main argument ... If it's not political reality, then US army could fight Germany and USMC fight UK? Hmm I wonder why no one ever made a map with that. Anyone wants a lil Canada vs USA? If China can fight Russia, sure amercains can invade Canada!
Now now. Any news about the map and not the debate? Or was this map project abandoned?

??:
