My mic cost me 2 dollars including shipping.

Manual spotting is fine but gaining the enemies position from 'spotting' is not ok.
I like active tracking of a known enemy but it should allready be known, maybe the view distance on this should be reduced to 100m ie. its allready visible to you

this is for your 2nd and 3rd arguments, in real life you have to have some one watching that tank that is coming to your position, there is no crazy thing that when you see it, it is then sent to every one on the field in a second and updated every second for about 30 sec.
Going out and buying a mic is irrelevant. Yes, everyone should have one, but some people cannot get theirs working or it is messed up.

And yes, if someone sees a tank, they are going to pass it up and through the chain of command with either radio contact or some other form. Since the only people you can talk to ingame are your squadmates and commander(who may not even be there or care), spotting resembles the radio contact.

And you can spam an area all you want trying to spot an enemy out, but if the enemy is well hidden or not even in the area, it will not spot. And if you do it too much, then you will be blocked from spotting, so it already has enough counter measures to it.

The map is always dead on, computers dont do inaccuracy and that'd take effort to implement. The skill & inaccuracy is down to the player, you have to translate the 2D position to match the 3D models around you.

I agree the q spot makes identification easier and less confusing but just the marked friendlies alone should be enough really.
You should deduce the enemy not magically discover him as a red dot on your gps

Maybe q spot could relate to a verbal challenge system but in that case it would only work at short range and on players not vehicles.

BF2 will keep on screwing around with the minimap zoom, so you have to keep fixing it with the N key. Every time you spot, bf2 screws it, enter a vehicle, etc
