I was referring to real life events not just real life based maps ;) AFAIK there haven't been no combat operations in Muttrah whereas in November 2004 Operation Phantom Fury took place in Fallujah and I fully remember the whole thing from the news. And there are still troops in Basrah and still quite some action in Helmand.

there was some action there not long ago with the Royal Marines, but muttrah goes off the Gulf of Oman storyline from vBF2 saying that the MEC are in Oman.

'USMC[KILLER wrote:;547760']I'm pretty sure its gonna be the USMC making the assault..so there won't be any M2 Bradley's involved ;)
Talk about Amphibious Assault Vehicule is useless i suppose...

BTW M2 Bradley where used in Fallujah

I always thought it would be sweet if they did a retelling of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and made a "Fear and Loathing in Fallujah", featuring everybody getting high and dodging IEDs

Any thoughts?

Good things, mate!

Question: what sort of vehicles are we talking about here? Just ground, or will it have one or more helos, like Basrah?

A Few humvees and maybe an APC wouldn't hurt but what has more armor than APC or a helo is way too much for this IMO.

An AH-6 would e nice. I really think that AH-6s are under-placed in asymmetric maps. Having an AH-6 pilot attached to your squad and getting the same attack commands was amazing in 0.5 32-player Al Basrah.

AH-6 ye, but without the AT rockets. Else everyone will just TK pilots for it, AT spam instead of using the chain guns and flip it over and over again.

USMC, both the US Army and US Marine Corps took Fallujah. Ducky has said he's not sure which will be in the map.

If its Army I'd go with the Apache and if possible Kiowa. AH/MH-6 are way overused. There are like what? 30 in the US Army inventory?

If the USMC I want my huey :P

This is a good enough reason why helos shouldn't be included. Basrah is 1024x2 and there is still just one meriln there.

I don't think the AH-6 is overused. Name one asymmetric map that uses it. Fallujah was a major battle, and so I would think that even severely limited assets would have been dedicated to it.

The AH-6 is extremely useful in this kind of scenario. Especially when you have caches to be looking for, and so people aren't simply looking to up their kill count (hopefully).

A tight five man squad moving through the city can benefit enormously from an AH-6, since they can use it to engage all targets unaware of their position, as well as those targets are in any way entrenched (in an enterable building, occupying a compound, etc.).

&@jayceon, Al Basrah is mostly open space, not city. This new map would be mostly city. Also do not forget that most of us here have played Basrah with 2 cobras, 2 A-10s, and 2(?) Blackhawks. While people found this excessive, Basrah was still an enormously enjoyable map.

Ahh, so you want the map to last 5 minutes on every round, as the Pwnpache takes out all the caches on the map, giving that the map will most likely be Insurgency mode.

Yes. If the insurgents cant figure out how to get 1-2 technicals together then they should lose.

Oh please, because the Apache can't accelerate to jet speed and quickly turn away or just rape every vehicles before they are used. And give me a break, it's a 1 km map, even in vBF2 1 Km maps don't have air assets.

Question

Why would this map go to the US Army when the Marines basically own the city? Marines fought in Operation Vigilant Resolve and Operation Phantom Fury. The Army only helped in the second assault.

good site on Fallujah

IMO USMC will be fighting insurgents on this map. Duckhunt has been always going for realism and I'm pretty sure this won't be no exception. Personally I would choose the Army over the Marines anytime but this map simply fits the USMC more than the Army.
