I think a desert night map would lack realism since the vehicles wouldn't have heat vision. Also, I remember the community really pestering the Dev’s for nightmaps, then when they’re released people literally complain that they’re “too dark”!!

I’d personally like to see a new game mode that was largely focused on infantry operations at night and set in Afghanistan or the like, but it wouldn’t be popular across the board. It would mean that if someone put in the hundreds of hours required to make a map, it would be quickly dropped due to unpopularity. That said, if you’ve got a passion for it and the skills to learn the BF2 editor then I reckon go for it, I’d love to see more nightmaps :)
“nobody said something about low view distance, that is just for the Night Vision…the view is only limited in terms of light.”
LOL someone’s got a really bright monitor ;)

The idea that people wont gamma hack is like the idea people wont prone dive or try to bunny hop. People are noobs, just ask Nightwolf.

About Gamma hack, if the NVG were forced as alway on, wouldn't increasing the gamma only make the screen greener and not lighter ?

Well, you guys probably already thought about it anyway.

I'd love another Night map but at the same time know it wont happen for the same reasons Mr Rank has provided us with, He made the last one for us and we dismissed it for having 'To many trees' and 'being to Dark' so why spend the effort of making another one, spending all that time which could be put to his other projects (like barracuda and any other unnamed maps in the works)

I'll also add some lamps to the bunkers and maybe some in the villages. Oh and where do I add the realitymod nv, in which file and what do I have to enter? I know how that works with the xpack nv how does that work with the custom nv made by the devs?
1) you will need expressed permission from the mapper who created the map (in this case [R-DEV]Duckhunt) before you put forward any version of a map that has already been created

2) as I've stated, the team won't include a nightmap version of a map that is already in the mod with daylight settings

3) you can mess around with any map to look at what others have done and learn, but as stated in point number 1, you will need expressed permission from the mapper concerned before you make a version of his/her map available to the public

My advise, as already stated, is to start from scratch and create your own map. Here are some excellent ref. points for you to do so:
