Claymores are identical to the AT-4, in that they are issued to your everyday frontline infantryman on a per-mission basis. If the mission dictates that your element might be running an ambush, you have a few in your squad issued a claymore bandolier. If your mission dictates you might encounter armor or hard-cased bunkers, a few are issued the M136. For the most part soldiers are randomly given the weapons, there is no certification that states one or more specific soldiers will carry them. But in my units the soldiers who were assigned those weapons were the best shots with the M136 or the fastest to correctly deploy the claymore.
At the end of my service, the ratio of deployment was usually about 2-3 per squad, squads being 9 men each. This went for either the M18A1 or the M136. Lately our missions have had minimal use of claymores, but much more the troops are issued the M136. Those bad boys make fast work of an insurgent hiding in a house, just thump one through a window.
I'm just wondering what the hell happened to the AT-8?

To last poster: Thats cool, then it makes sense to me that it would be a limited kit like the Rifleman (AT), though 2-3 seems a little too many, perhaps if you could lay that many only after being rearmed by another soldier or an ammo box. Is that what the AP rifleman used to be, was he limited or unlimited. I think that the Ammo Rifleman(who, by the way, has no more slots free) should use some other method to make them better.
To another post: On mines being illegal, they are in the UK, but not in Russia, the US or China, and that only counts automatic ones, so clacker mines are still fine. I was wondering about WWII style stake mines, maybe for the Militia forces, to be used like AT mines, spread over a distance, though if you got hit by one it would not kill you, but it would make you bleed.

I think giving the ammo rifleman the following loadout would be good, given Ninja2Dan's reporting on claymore deployment:
* 1)Knife
* 2)Entrenching Tool
* 3)Assault Rifle with Iron Sights (8+1 magazines)
* 4)Fragmentation Grenade x 4
* 5)Smoke Grenade x 2
* 6)Ammo Resupply Bag x 1
* 7)Binoculars
* 8 Field Dressing x 1
* 9)Claymore x 2 <---so adding 2 claymores
The claymore will give more incentive to take the ammo rifleman, and allow infantry squads to ambush and defend more effectively. This will lead to more tactical innovation, as people will need to avoid obvious assault routes in order to effectively take objectives. It will also force more combined arms movement, as squads will need to either be transported in a safe vehicle, or have the area cleared by friendly armor/air.

I don't think it would be a good idea to simply stick 2 or 3 claymores in the basic infantry kit, but the addition of the mines as some sort of limted kit (but not nearly as limited as some of the others) would probably work fine.
Maybe even one claymore per both iron sight and optic infantry would work - think about it, how many of them do you really need for an ambush?
As for gameplay, command detonated claymores would be a very useful and realistic addition, yet you'd still have to know what you were doing to make good use of them.
thats a good idea

I think my post was misunderstood. Soldiers are only assigned ONE claymore each, issued in the bandolier. The 2-3 per squad means that when they are issued out, 2 or 3 soldiers will be assigned a bandolier. That means one per soldier, with 2-3 soldiers per squad carrying them.

V0.7 was too big for a single download, so they split up the files into a core version and a mappack version. You should download the second one.
And uh, any word from the DEVs on this one?

Could the shrapnel from a claymore activated about 5m from a car speeding in its direction destroy the vehicle instantly in PR? This could become an important way for the British to stop passing suicide cars on Al Basrah with the ability to stay much closer than they could with a brick of C4.
Even better, claymores need to be able to shred tires and passengers - the only remote-operated roadside bomb from which you don't need to run 40m.

Ah, I didn't realize that one bandolier meant one mine.
So probably a limited kit that allows 2 per squad would be most realistic? Each kit carrying 1 mine, and being similar to the current ammo rifleman or optic rifleman.
Or adding one claymore to the ammo rifleman.
* 9)Claymore x 1 <---so adding 1 claymores

I have an inside scoop of how the dev's feel about it, but I'm sworn to secrecy. No not really jk, they're receptive to the idea, but it's alot of tweaking and **** that noone really wants to handle atm, as there are more important issues on the table. But who knows, they might surprise us.

Giving the ammo rifleman a claymore would be great but maybe remove or reduce the amount of grenades to 2 instead of 4 to compensate.
