okay i just finished modeling a lock that can be used for the trailer and engine hatch, but my problem is that i don't know if it's worth adding it or if it can just be textured. but also i need about 10 of these and each is at a whopping 41 poly's and 120 tris making it 410 polys and 1200 polys for a rather small detail. so i could use some advice on this since the lock can not be optimized.

I'll help you with the model. Send me a pic of what you need. I'm not going to make a vehicle for you lol just some parts like a lock if you need? Just give me a pic because i really can't make out what that is.

basicly you lift the bottom part and the ring lifts from its resting area and the lock is unlocked, is used for sides of trailers etc.

but most of the parts that can be done with pictures are done now so the only parts that can be done now have to be extruded from the objects or made by imagination.

but start another tread for the fun of it and see if you can make your own project just come up with something random like a weapon that has already been modeled or something, just for learning.

okay i'm having loads of time this weekend to do some more of the model so expect the engine area and hopefully the back of the trailer or the crew cabin to be done by the end of the week.

Good work. This can at least be used on some sort of objective based map if you model the arty version as something that needs to be destroyed, or something like that.

okay got some more details done and some scaling has been done to the model so it does not really fit to the reference blueprint anymore (but i'm very condident that it's off in several places like container heights and similar) so i have decided to scale some of the areas after eyesight and comparing reference pictures and taking the adjustments.
also i have begun to add some of the smaller parts like some of the exhaust pipes and similar even though this has proven to be a very hard thing to do since it's hard to get good enough reference pictures and it takes its time to model. so to be honest i've hit a bit of a wall here since it's very hard areas to model but i think i can do it still and i'll keep working.

at the moment the project is at a halt, partly because the germans have a better support truck in the making and because i have a lot of issues with homework and my computer at the moment.

i'm a bit worried about the tricount at the moment though since it's at 5,550 tris at the moment and i still got quite some details to add including the cabin.
