I love the 16, needs good squad coordination.
Trans Helo's actually get a really good run around.

God damit i am an infantry player

OF COURSE THE 16 player version is the best.
Followed by the 64player and the 32 is the last imo because the chopper is the damn overkill on the map, especially for infantry. I know you chopper pilots like to slaughter us on the ground... but i don't

Alex - a very good topic indeed,
It's been awhile since I've posted anything on the forums, but this topic seems to be a perfect case to do so.
For those of you who know me, it goes without a saying that I prefer the 32 version over 64. I, personally hate the way infantry fighting is currently portrayed and as such I consider it only as a "secondary option" over any vehicle available.
Furthermore, 64 version is too much a one-man show when it comes to CAS. The fighters supporting the CAS mission have little else to do but to keep the airspace clear for the ground-pounder. If you do have a good ground-crew and /or good spotting from the grunts, you can dominate the battle on ground too . It is only too easy to pull some angels and egress from any ground threat and once it's indentified and lased by the guys on the ground - to zoom down for the kill and climb back again where no ground based threat can touch you.
On the other hand, the 32 version offer what I think the best balance between portraying a modern combined-arms battlefield and getting more guys "into the play" when it comes to CAS as now you will have to get total of 4 (compared to a solo groundpounder pilot in v64) competent players to make the difference. Also, in helicopter version guys on the ground can fight back more effectively. We all know how vulnerable the helicopters are to AA-systems, tanks and even concentrated .50 cal fire.
Why most players who like the infantry/armor fighting on the ground consider the 32 version inferior to 64? The answer is pretty simple: most helicopter squads are "locked" as guys flying them think that 2-man squad (with a possibly even using voip) is good enough and suffices as a "good teamwork". This is most unfortunate.
In fact, as the A-10 or SU-25 driver is dependent on a solid ground-spotting, he is more inclined to join a squad with some guys on ground to act as spotter/lazers to provide direct CAS - where as helicopter "crews" do NOT have to rely on external lasing, instead choosing to roam the battlefield as they see fit.
Every good helicopter pilot/gunner in PR scene knows however, how important it is to have a good situational awareness to have any degree of success, and you just can't beat the quality of intel you get from the guys on the ground - that is if you are willing to talk to them and vice versa.
This is the biggest problem with 32 version and attack-helicopters generally in PR. Lack of co-operation with ground-troops. It's more than anything a cultural problem, which would be easily corrected by using the proper co-operation between the helicopter crews and infantry on the ground, but only rarely witnessed in practise.
Just for the record, I think it would be bad idea to correct this shortcoming by imposing technical methods (ie. making it possible to use missiles only if lased from ground etc.) as it would ruin the realism and immersion.
Instead, I think us pilots/gunners in PR should take a hard look at ourselves and reconsider the way we "fly" and co-operate with the guys on the ground...
Anyone agreeing with that?
Fight hard,

16, really fun battles with infantry only!

I am a shameless A-10 lover. I even enjoy flying the Frogfoot, but the A-10 wins hands down.
Plus, it is so gratefying to call in air support on the village and watching the A-10 gun shread the entire area with that menacing growl that echos across the valley!
So 64 FTW! (though I love 32 about as much)

Kashan seems to bring in people no matter the size, so sticking 32 instead of 64 in the rotation is A-OK with me.
Getting CAS from a Cobra is a lot of fun.....

16 player map size, and there is plenty of tranportation available, just maintain 2+2 for firebases & bunkers.
Kashan is at the top, as far as favorite maps are concerned. I Prefer Kashan 16, 64, then 32 player size. Those attack choppers..... cringes & shudders.
BTW, I don't fly, tank or APC, straight infantry grunt only (supply truck, humvee, etc)!
Keep the attack helo's & jets, they're only a distraction from possibly effective infantry squads and tactics.
Kashan is basically the only map where, I'll be glad to be the SL. When I get the nerve, I'll someday become the CO, providing a few top-notch & active SL, share some pointers and or suggestions for the win.
See ya on the frontlines.

never seen this poll. 16 seems to be the best for infantry and having less smacktards and more communication. So therefor is my favorite. but i love using tanks, which makes 64 my favorite tank map. but even though i love gunships, 32 seems to be more frantic and whoever loeses the gunships to the enemy gunships get pummled, and it empties the server.

62 and 32 player maps are for armor and jet/heli whores.

INFANTRY FTW!
P.S. No, really. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE infantry!

'[T wrote:Terranova7;654586']I was just playing on the 16p version of Kashan before being kicked in mid-flight for a supporting TG member
haha, same thing happened to me the other day, except I was flying the fully loaded helicopter. Hint, everyone died.
I personally like the 32 or 16 versions, as a pretty strict infantryman, 64 gets a little bit boring due to the 25mins between each fight.

I only played the 16 and 64 player version and I can say that the 64 player version sucks for infantry since it's basically like this:
1) Capture flag
2) Build defences
3) Get into good position
4) Get killed from half a kilometer away by a tank
5) Repeat steps three and four until teeth marks appear on keyboard

64 I guess, jet pilots seem more effective at helping a squad in need, and since I'm usually SL, I prefer them.
Also, my I ask what happened to the starting spawns at North and South Village?

The 64 version I feel is decent, demanding and enjoyable with nearly everything you could want from a map. Sure you'll be stuck walking everywhere eventualy and your tank collums will be ripped apart by skilled attack jets, but with a team that's working well nothing can be better.
