I dont I spent many a mile on the road in one of those things. It was a makeshift attempt to protect convoys because of a lack of real armored vehicles. I had a friend who took a round in the inner thigh like that just standing there on a seat with nothing but a piece of glass between him and the bullet slinger. Lucky it didnt hit him in the balls.

And thus I raise this thread back from the dead as the birth of the Convoy Truck Driver position has finally started coming into its own in PR. I feel that this vehicle would add positively to gameplay. Perhaps two versions, the first merely placing a GPMG or equivalent on a cupola on the cab of the supply truck, and a second variant with the cupola gun on the cab and two to four machine guns in the back however with only one supply crate or perhaps even just an ammo box.

soooo, you want us to add a HMG onto a truck, for what purpose? the only thing I see it archiving is making trucks be used in a way we dont want them ie, as a MG emplacement. a truck should get the feck out of any combat area if any one is driving it, not stand and fight, that is the job of other vehicles/troops.

Exactly Rhino..The Humvee does this, but tons better,lol...The support trucks in-game are meant for 1 thing..Supoorting it's forces..But maybe not in combat way,but giving supplies, transport, and blocking bullets when left abandoned on a street, lol.

A mounted SAW wouldnt hurt tho rhino, self-defence. put it on the roof top with about 45 to 90degrees view.

it would hurt alot in terms of man hrs to make this happen. would require drastic modifications to the model and skin, then a fresh import, then code to add it so it can work, just so we can have something that encourages the truck to be used in such a way we dont want?

i think it's a good idea to have an lmg like that.
the gunner would be really exposed with only the gun and the frame bars as protection, exposed from over 180º through the windows etc.
it would be cool to use to lay down suppressive fire with for the suppression effect (while going through an ambush etc) and only give it 1 or 2 mags and a limited 180º view. he'd be in trouble if he was static.

i wish i could make models, this could have been my pet project.

I guess it isnt a priority, but there's always room for improvements rhino. afterall this is just a suggestion.

Right now the support truck has nothing with which to discourage presuit or discourage sticking your head out to shoot at it. It's very vulnerable to ambushes and attacks even in so called clear zones. Putting an LMG on the truck will give it something that can suppress the enemy long enough for the truck to get away.

I'd prefer a ins minivan with machine guns. that would be awesome.

I agree. The random LAT guy who's chilling outside your base and pops a round at your truck as you head out now actually has something to worry about.

If we can't add a machinegun, the infantry need to be able to fire out of the truck.

I know for a fact that the Marines in Afghanistan used to load up trucks as full as they could get them when they went out on patrol, so that when they started taking fire, they'd be able to put a ton of lead in the air. Right now, trucks are sitting ducks for anyone who has a weapon larger than a pistol, because no one is going to return fire if you start popping away at them.

There's another one on the top. And on the other side theres a nice big open door for an RPG wielding insurgent to sit.

Could we not make the same argument about a lone soldier? By himself, he has limited capacity to conduct his mission.

It sounds like the support truck in this situation would benefit greatly from a Humvee/Stryker escort.

You can't always escort command trucks. Especially when you need the firepower on the front lines. Seriously, who is going to use a Stryker or APC to sit around and escort command trucks. Sounds like a waste of an asset.
