I don't think the gameplay has gotten quite as bad as you would think based on some of the posts here. However I have noticed an increase in squad locking. Now while I understand that "veterans" may do this to guarantee solid teamplay it is pretty counterproductive at the same time. The "noobs" need to be educated by playing with experienced players so that they can at least get up to an acceptable teamplaying standard and understand the game mechanics. If all the knowledgeable player are holed up together who are these people going to learn from? It's self perpetuating.

He replied that with this kind of squad it wasn't worth the effort. Shortly he left the squad which led to the usual "I don't want to be SL so I leave/rejoin" mini-game. I asked the squad to leave and rejoin once I was SL. Then it took a few minutes and some move markers but soon enough almost the entire squad was on me and we were capturing a flag and actually covering each other.
If a SL gives orders the squad usually tends to form up. Once SL gets quiet then the SMs will start to wander around or simply leave and join another squad. And when you join a quiet squad, just call out the enemies. It will usually encourage others to speak up too which will greatly improve teamwork.
And one thing I hate more than a new player who does all the wrong things is a veteran who fills the VOIP channel with all his complaining.
X2!!
Sls Need to giver proper orders.and not let an entire squad stagnate.

PlanetSide had such a system for a while.
God, I love that game. Only stopped playing when I needed to be saving my cash rather than spending it on a subscription.

What about PlanetSide reserves? That's free isn't it?
Last time I played tho, there were always next to no people on. Shame; great game, we need more MMORPFPS's like that...

I agree, it takes leadership to form up a good sqd.
But we cant always put the work on the veterans shoulder, and have them educate the beginners.
When I started with .5 I read the manual first of all, and looked around at tactical thread and tips. I stayed away from anything with wheels and wings, and learned the basics the hard way.
How to lead ive learned from the masters like Dirtboy and Fuzzhead, over at TG. But it always helps to read up on tactics or just take a TGU class when its available.
I have no problem teaching new players, but it does require some work for the beginner too. Couple of days ago on the battlearena a guy joins my sqd and spawn in main. At once he jumps in the chopper and goes wtf after he dies. Those kind of people Ive only got one advice to. RTFM.
We cant expect that noobs play like we do, but the noobs cant expect that this is a game where everything is served to them on a nice platter. PR is NOT vanilla. It takes dedication and hard work to be good. If they dont want to work for it, I say go play Pac-Man.
On the other hand I see plenty of Squadleaders who need to step back and take charge. Not having officer kit. Not planning what kits the squad should have, medic etc. One thing I really am missing sometimes, is for the sl to hold back use his binos and spot targets, placing markers on them, and just using move markers for general movement. Instead of going "lets move to that house by the trees.

I played several drunken rounds last night and found the teamwork and coordination between squads to be excellent, even if my commanding wasn't.
I had APCs waiting for infantry and infantry screening APCs just like it says in the book.
It wasn't a cakewalk as the enemy fought hard but teamwork won the game.
PR isn't just not vanilla is isn't even Battlefield 2 anymore.
In order to win against an organized team you have to think like an RTS game and that is what sets PR apart from any other FPS I have ever played.
Once again ...................kudos to the DEVs and R-Cons for all their hard work.

Why do most of you cuss out people who play regular BF2? you once played it also so don't bash it, i still play it frequently as i think its BETTER then PR - Or are you only cussing them out to make up for something eh? A ground pounder kpwned you when you left your tank and some tard stole it?
But anyway, i play on the 10'th mountains server and teamplay is still going along there (aslong as you are USMC or British) as its full of foreigners nowa-days

I don't understand how you could even compare base level Battlefield to Project Reality.
They are two totally different games.
The reason we bash 'nilla is because it is full of 'nillanooobs who don't play as a team whereas PR forces some of the teamwork and peer pressure does the rest.

Be the change you wish to see.
If you want greater teamwork then you can support the team/rabble as a single player by doing all the unpopular but still very influential tasks. Usually this would mean either CO or engineer kit

Last time I played Project reality, was back when 0.6 came out.
There was plenty of Teamwork with the servers I joined.
I dont know if they are still there, but I hope so, cause I'm buying a new computer this summer and getting Project reality when I can.

It's sort of like with a city. You start off with a little town that is friendly, clean, and free of crime. Over time word gets out and people start to move in. Unfortunately, they bring their ways with them, screw up the town, and turn it into just another big crime ridden city.
Anyway, I would have to say that the lack of teamwork is caused not by noobs, but by selfish people whose idea of a good time is running around scoring cheap shots and being "1337 pwnzors." They are the reason that in BF2, half a team will be running around with no squads just spraying and praying. Or, they will hog the vehicles for the whole game. Occasionally, you will get a coordinated, organized team. Then the game turns into a one sided slaughter, as the unorganized mobs of one team are mowed down by the crack squads on the other. Personally, being a noob, I just join a squad, follow my squad leader, and do what he says.
