I think your right. i dont think using the Ira is feasable right now. ill look for another option. Im happy i got the chance to have a proper thread about this and explore all the options. and if a better solution comes up which is more realistic i will open up discissions about it. but for now, this project is closed.

i think, try it and than see if it is a offical part of PR or maybe just a "add-on" for an "IRA" event ;)

[R-MOD]KP wrote:The man is correct. However thorough work you have done on this (I'm impressed, to be honest), an IRA faction has been discussed before and shot down thoroughly. IRA never was anything like the type of insurgency you can find in Afghanistan and Iraq. Having the IRA in PR would at best be slightly unrealistic. That conflict is also a pretty sensitive subject to many people.
The same points, can be aplied to the insurgency in the Middle East. Most attacks are not straight up fighting, they're off duty attacks, mortar attacks, snipers who take a few shots and run, and the conflict is a sensative subject to people. To quote the wiki;
The introduction of Insurgent factions in Project Reality with v0.4 is an experiment intended to reflect the battlefield experiences of today's conventional soldier. What we do with these factions will evolve over time. Additionally it's a place for the dev team to experiment with asymmetrical faction design and try some wacky stuff. There is no intended political statement.

Well there is gaelic, which i speak a bit of, and getting my hands on some military orders in gaelic wouldnt be hard. I have a deep voice, but wouldnt be appropriate for this. i dont think i would want to hear my voice over and over anyways xD

I read your post yesterday, after i had decided to close this idea up. And you have sparked my interest. I dont think this would be feasable for the Public Project reality maplist...but as a downloadable small map, for the likes of Scrims, it may be interesting. So i am going to go through some options. senarios and find a nice feel for this. We allready have a fantastic weapons list to select from. Now all we need are A map, a couple of uniforms, which should be easy enough to model. and because most of the statics are allready there, the map should be easy enough.

So if anyone is interested in this idea, please feel free to PM.
Heres whats needed...(if your interested in doing any of these, or if you allready have them, please PM me, for more information :) )
A white cottage (not thatched, just dirty brown slates, and maybe some ivy on the side walls)
A white Farmhouse (kind of deralict looking, no broken glass. enterable if possible)
A Red aluminium Farm shed with bails of hay, and a round metal troff thingy (PM me on that one :D )
A realistic looking Hedgerow (one that you can defenitly hade in but not pass through)
A rusty long gate with a pair of wooden pillars, tied up with blue string instead of the a lock bolt. and the same again only open.
And a british airbase control tower, shown in one of the previous posts.(i know, easier said than done, right?)

Sounds like a lot of work, and could take a while, but i figured if anyone wanted to take part that they should have the information nessesary to partisipate. All we are doing right now, is figuring out the weapons loadout and seeing if its applicable to gameplay. and if it goes the way we want. im more focused on the gameplay aspects to be honust, because i want it to be fun for people who know their stuff!

If i go ahead with this, i would like the theme to be slow and stealthy. I want squads hiding in hedges and ditches, crawling through fields of grass that hides very well, Rows of cover litering the area for intense firefights and crawling positions. Mainly because i want it as a scrimming map.

I guess, its back open. :)

Sounds like BS to me - maybe some livestock got spooked and ran into barbed wire fences or something - id believe that, but helicopters fly over and all the cows and sheep keel over??? :-?

I do know that some sheeps will "fake die" when scared by loud noise (looks damn hilarious, look from youtube or something) But never heard of cows doing that, or really dying because of that.

Sorry, goats, and theyre "tennesee goats".

It would take a lot of cows running into a lot of barbed wire to kill them all. and they would be scattered around the outskirts of the fields...but they were on hillsides and standing around grasing in the center of the fields when they died.
Some helicopters produce a huge amount of sound and can be just below the fatal desibel level for humans, thats why we use pelters and earmuffs, not just because it can rupture your eardrums, but it could have killed if you were too close and in the wrong area. these days most aircraft have sound reducers on exaust and engines so they can insert with some degree of stealth, but back then you could hear them coming a mile away (literally :D )

However, i cant do much than say that as i am having a hard time finding photographic evidance, for now its just a story i was told, proclaimed as fact, and i have no personal proof on the matter. But i would be inclined to believe them as the person who told me is a reliable source. So dead animals, are a minor thing. The most important statics would be the houses, farm stuff and hedges...if they are done they can also be used on any future european maps.

*Removing Dead livestock from the requested static list.*
(If anyone wants to do them, be my guest ,but i cant find actual evidence of that happening so im axing it for now.)

I think that is this totally new and that idea is great,
but M95 is anti-material sniper rifle, better to put some "normal" sniper rifle.
Good idea,really good ! :D
And when game loads some map it should be Megadeth - Holy Wars song in the background :D :D :D

please stop reviving threads from 2008 please!

edit: on a side note, in order to prevent necrophilia on the forums shouldn't dead threads be locked, only to be reopened on request?
like the things go right now people rather start new threads than continueing the old one anyway
