I've been playing the original Forgotten Hope for BF1942 for the past few weeks with the same group of players, and it really is fun with lots of teamwork (despite no VOIP). There's nothing like hopping into a fully loaded B17 on Midway to search for the enemy carrier. Granted, it's not PR teamwork, but it's still fun nonetheless.

The one thing that annoys me the most about FH in general is the pretentiousness of the developers. They refuse to accept some certain facts that would make gameplay better. I was really wanting to like FH2, but I guess PR spoiled me on the teamplay aspect. FH2 is extremely well-made as far as textures, sounds, and effects go, but there are SO many things that the devs could add to make gameplay much better. And yes, a lot of these things are in PR now. It's really a shame.

I wish the PR devs could take over the gameplay aspect of that mod. That would be WW2 game heaven...

but with fh2 the most i ever see playing at one time is like 50.. or atleast today it was like that. it just .. idk got really slow. I'd like more ww2 playing, but im defiantely waiting for thst europe version, i like that better than african.

Despite that I've only tried FH2 since 2 days ago so far from what I've seen I agree totally. FH2 has the visuals and the visceral "you are there/this is war" feeling down perfect. It grabs your senses I guess you could say. The atmosphere is dead on as well. But it has no staying power IMO. It's like once you play a couple maps you are done for the day cause every map just degenerates into the same thing (everybody playing "team" deathmatch and trying to get the highest frag count above actually winning the map). Everything is WAY too fast paced, from the movements to the spawn times. It's like there's no time to do anything substantial because this avalanche of bodies and vehicles just collide and chain react the whole round.

You CAN try and use good tactics and coordinate (with yourself mostly) but if the rest of your team is just out of it and have the tactical sense of a bag of rice and just want frags it's pretty frustrating.

Some suggestions:

#1 implement the 3d markers that guide you and get rid of minimap

#2 how bout vehicle/aircraft don't respawn the second you kill them? Then it might actually matter that you killed it instead of churning through endless streams of equipment like a log mill with little reward for destroying such things.

#3 slow down the players. I'm pretty sure people in WW2 didn't dart all over like hyper bunnies. Tone it down to realistic levels like PR. This would slow the game down and make planning and tactics more likely to emerge when you aren't sprinting to your death every 15 seconds.

#4 auto cap point spawning. Boy this is like a spawn killers paradise what they got goin on. Yesterday I sat and respawned about 10 times as a guy just killed me (and everyone else) as we magically appeared. I just let him continue to do it to see if he would ever cease such a ridiculous exploitation......he didn't.

#5 lazer accurate rifles. Hey I got excellent reflexes and can boom headshot with the best of them but seeing a guy appear 300 meters away and instantly rotating like meth fueled bunny & pegging him with pinpoint precision doesn't seem very realistic to me but maybe that's what they like.

#6 tank armor seems FUBAR to me as far as what can penetrate what (or at least the damage dealt). It's way too "binary" BOOM=dead or BOOM..BOOM=dead then NEXT! It really limits tactical possibilities when every tank can be toasted by just about every enemy artillery piece and every enemy tank. Why even make all these different tanks? Just have 1 per side and they can each toast each other in 1 or 2 shots and they would've saved a whole lot of effort.

These are just a small # of suggestions but basically use as many PR ideas that would also work for FH2 and the game could actually become something lasting.

FH2 literally (for me and many others) could have toppled PR...

Unfortunately even TG couldnt stand it. We shouldnt have to TRY to force teamwork down someones throat...

If a game doesnt facilitate teamwork, there's not much you can do really...
