Marksman is the better kit and your sl is right. Most maps arent big enough for snipers now alot of the time.

The smallest distance I would recommend for sniper would be something like from one side of the dam to the other, the hills on either side. Sniper is immobile and this flag situation can become a stand off so it might be appropriate for giving cover and returning fire but moving with a squad should not be with sniper.

I was kicked out of a squad the other day just for taking up a vantage point & giving cover with marksman, I killed 4 people but they were wiped out and I was found at fault. Most sl want the squad to move as one big group and the idea of long distance cover fire (100m -300m with dmr or 400m+ sniper) or crossfire is not commonly used or wanted.

You should informally cover another squad with sniper if you'd like to try it out. Be a guardian angel and take out enemies engaging your chosen squad, your'll most likely be told off for kill stealing or something because its so effective

The problem is the viewdistance and mist prevent sniper being used as it should be

Really depents on your kind of guy your SL is. Never ever had my SL tell our marksman to stay with them. Only thing I hear are things like "Everyone move to the attackmarker, except the marksman ofcourse".

If you are in a squad with a SL who didnt fall on the back of his head, he will know what kind of role a marksman has in the squad.

Mist seems to be the evildo'er on any map. Maybe not on AoMestia, that map is just pure win.
But seriously, be glad EA DIDNT add electromagnatic mist. From what I heard. It melts metal.
