This is one of those ideas that sounds fine and dandy on paper, but when implemented essentially turns the game into complete and utter chaos and confusion. Friendly fire incidents will light up like mad, and it could potentially break the game.

The fact of the matter is, you're never going to see a completely realistic video game. The people playing this are still (on average, I do know we have a few vets here) video game/weaponophile nerds who want to shoot things. There's those who would pull out the binocs and check, and those who wont, and the ones that wont are really going to make the game utterly unenjoyable.

Again, sounds good on paper, wont work in this game.

Not to mention, as fun as PR can be, I think we can all agree that (whether you enjoy the aspect or not) PR consists of roughly 90% running around and rally point setting, and 10 percent actual firefights. Adding this feature would only serve to make that percentage deeper.

Weel, i didn't read the whole thread yet, but that's what I've thinking to post.

"I been thinking that we take the first step removing de minimap from infantry's HUD. Now we may be ready to take realism further.
My idea is remove the friendly soldiers from all maps, except commanders and vehicles.
Which's the logic?

1- The past/last modifications make squads go more tight than before. So we don't see much infantry going alone. We can promote navigation (use of coordinates, distances, and enviroment references), wich is very used in the armies. We can finally get squads being squads.

2- Commander's role is fundamental in 0.8, but no indispensable. I've seen rounds in massive servers without commander. Now if squads can't speculate with their teammates movements, they will be forced to work with a commander that makes them coordinate. Only commanders will be able to warn squads about other squads positions and make them work acordingly and safely.
This will improve commanders role to Mission Control Operators."

PD: Sorry about my thread, didn't knew that it's called "blue force tracking"

Well you really should read the whole thread, as should the guys above you - because as I explained about 4 posts up, it can't be done anyway :p
