This is one of those ideas that sounds fine and dandy on paper, but when implemented essentially turns the game into complete and utter chaos and confusion. Friendly fire incidents will light up like mad, and it could potentially break the game.
The fact of the matter is, you're never going to see a completely realistic video game. The people playing this are still (on average, I do know we have a few vets here) video game/weaponophile nerds who want to shoot things. There's those who would pull out the binocs and check, and those who wont, and the ones that wont are really going to make the game utterly unenjoyable.
Again, sounds good on paper, wont work in this game.
Not to mention, as fun as PR can be, I think we can all agree that (whether you enjoy the aspect or not) PR consists of roughly 90% running around and rally point setting, and 10 percent actual firefights. Adding this feature would only serve to make that percentage deeper.
